Funsters

Well it’s that time of the year for everyone to be good or not, the guy in the red suit has come and gone. You have to wait till next Thanksgiving to start being good again.

We Funsters like to say we all hope you had a Happy and blessed thanksgiving with your family and friends. And we all wish you also had a Merry Christmas also.

Well! The year of 2016 is here already and the Funsters wish everyone a Happy New Year. Stay safe and have a great 2016.

December was a busy month for the Funsters. We had parades that was attended and also Christmas parties that was enjoyed by all. Kosair Charities and Kosair Christmas parties was well attended by many children of all ages. The smiles that the Funsters put on everyone’s face was a payment we can’t explain. Good ole Santa was present at both parties. He

sure gets around quickly and before you know it, he was gone.I’m going to ask all the Nobles to assist our new Potentate in having a great year and let’s bond together to make this year a great year.

Before the next article of the Kolums comes out, the circus will be here and gone. I’m asking for all Nobles to assist in making this circus one of the best. I heard we have some new acts coming in and this is going to be a great circus.

I would like to Thank our Potentate JR RIGGS and the line he had, that they did a remarkable job and we had a great time no matter what came up. And I’m sure Steve and his line will do a fantastic job for 2016. Steve has many great ideas to make the coming year fun and enjoyable.

F o r y o u n e w N o b l e s , Congratulations on becoming a SHRINER and we know that you will be great for your

“Temple.” If you new Nobles would like to get lost in the seas of people then, the Funsters unit is we’re you want to be. Even if you’ve thought about it and you thought about not knowing how to apply make-up or dress, we have many Funsters that will assist you in doing that. But! If that’s not what you want to do, just drop in on one of our meetings and see what we are all about and then you might change your mind. Whatever you feel like, just stop in and introduce yourself. Hope to see you there.

We meet on the 4th Monday of the month following the Unit Directors meeting. We start as close as possible to 7:30 PM as possible. Hope you can attend one of our meetings.

Well! It’s time for this clown to go and see what mischievous thing he can get into. Everyone have a great day and have fun.

The Love of GodA young man was heard to utter, “What should I do to be saved?” Freemasonry teaches us that the response is: “Love God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, with all thy mind and all thy strength, and thy neighbor as thyself. This do and thou shall be saved.”

Whatever sea of misfortune may overwhelm us, if we have practiced the virtues and studied the philosophy inculcated by the words in the teachings of Freemasonry, we shall still find consolation and be able to bear patiently the storms of evil fortune should such storms befall us. The virtues and teachings shall give us strength to bear and suffer beyond what a mere stoic possesses, and shall keep us from repinings and despair; for the Universe shall not be dark to us, nor life without an object. The duties of life, which are more than life, shall still remain to be done, and the love of God shall still continue to shine around us more brilliant that the sun.

Terry Brooks of Kentucky Youth Advocates - Governor Matt Bevin - Randy Coe.

KOSAIR STREET MACHINESBy Ed Embry

We want to welcome 2016. It is shaping up to be a big year for Kosair and the Street Machines. Our annual car shows are on the horizon and the parade schedule is due to start up in just a few months. If you wish to participate in a parade, we are a participating group. All that is needed is a street legal vehicle and the proper insurance on file in the office and you can be driving down the boulevard waving at the masses and getting thanks in return. Just come on over to our meeting room on the fourth Monday of the months between January and November after the Unit Directors meeting (approximately 7:30)

The Street Machines wish to announce another member that has been given Lifetime Member status. Noble Bill Foster is a charter member of the club and has been active in the meeting and gatherings ever since. Noble Foster and his wife

Abou Ben Adhemby James Henry Leigh Hunt

Abou Ben Adhem (may his tribe increase!)Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace,And saw, within the moonlight in his room,

Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom,An Angel writing in a book of gold:

Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold,And to the Presence in the room he said,

“What writest thou?” The Vision raised its head,And with a look made of all sweet accord

Answered, “The names of those who love the Lord.”“And is mine one?” said Abou. “Nay, not so,”

Replied the Angel. Abou spoke more low,But cheerly still; and said, “I pray thee, then,

Write me as one who loves his fellowmen.”

The Angel wrote, and vanished. The next nightIt came again with a great wakening light,

And showed the names whom love of God had blessed,And lo! Ben Adhem’s name led all the rest!

HIGH TWELVE INTERNATIONAL

Come on over to the KOSAIR Shrine Center on the Second (2nd) Friday of the month for a meeting of the ‘High Twelve International. All Masons and their Ladies are invited! We serve lunch at 11:00 p.m. with a speaker at 12:00 Noon. For further information please contact Mr. Bruce Pelham, PM, at 502-290-0772.

“High Twelve is an organization of Master Masons who support Masonic causes with special emphasis on youth support and patriotic events. There are over 5,000 members in over 170 clubs nationwide and in foreign countries.

Although only Master Masons can join High Twelve, anyone is welcome at the meetings. A typical meeting is brief in its business, full of fellowship, and includes a program usually a speaker, on a limitless range of subjects. Some clubs have ladies at all of the meetings, while others have ladies on special occasions.

High Twelve is an association dedicated to the unification of Master Masons, independent of the formal ritual of Lodge, but dedicated to service to the fraternity. Just a few or our accomplishments have been to develop long lasting friendships, encourage and support our public school systems and participate in constructive community activities and to preserve the principles of good government based on the rights of the individual.

High Twelve, which is a social extension of the Masonic experience, is so named because long ago, noon was known as “high twelve” and the time to call off from labor for refreshment. Accordingly, many High Twelve clubs – but not all – meet at noon. There is no ritual; but it strongly encourages its members to be active in their lodges and their communities.

High Twelve International affords valuable assistance to the Blue Lodges in whatever manner it is most needed. High Twelve International is Masonry in Action in the community where each Club holds its meetings and in the State where the several clubs are banded together in common purpose. High Twelvians adhere strictly to Masonic Law of that jurisdiction.

High Twelve International’s clubs combine fellowship with helping others in their quality of life pursuits, particularly young adults and youth. The club’s two philanthropic objectives are youth and education, strongly supporting the Order of DeMolay, Rainbow Girls, Job’s Daughters and the Wolcott Foundation that was established to provide scholarships for students at George Washington University who seek public service careers in government.”

Ladies Oriental ClubBy Carol Grant

The Ladies Oriental Club did not have a December meeting. Our Christmas Party was held at Audubon Country Club, on December 10, with over 60 in attendance, many of these ladies and their guests were our newly inducted members. We exchanged gifts, brought clothing items for the children at Kosair Children’s Hospital, gave away the Seng jewelry and had entertainment from Mike Bronnert and his Handbells, and presented a check to Kosair Charities. President Jerry Ward, Chairman of the Board of Kosair Charities was on hand to receive the check and gave us their “heartfelt thanks”.

The officers of the Ladies Oriental Club will be voted on and installed at the January meeting, since there was not a meeting in December. Officers will be published in the February Kolums.

Don’t Forget:

• Start the new year out right – come to the meetings, bring a friend and encourage her to join our group. The goal of the Ladies Oriental Club is to help support the work of Kosair Charities,

in their endeavor to help the children of our community, our most precious gift. The club has many events and fun activities during the year.

• February is Valentines – wear red – program to be announced.

• March is St. Patricks – wear green – program to be announced.

• 2016 looks to be a great year – with many new fundraisers and events, a fun time to be had by all, we have fun when we raise money. We look forward to seeing each of you at our meetings and events.

Here it is a New Year again, remember it is like a book, the pages are blank, waiting for you to fill them in, January 1 is the first day of that book and the first day of the rest of your life – use the pages well, so that at the end of the year you can look back and say “I did good and lived well”.

“Love, Laugh and Live” Happy New Year!!
