Joint Regular Meeting along with Rotaract Club Of Calcutta BIBS Midtown at the Saturday club 6.30 PM. One day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk He drank it slowly, and then asked, “How much do I owe you?” “You don't owe me anything,” she replied “Mother has taught us never to accept payment for a kindness.” He said… “Then I thank you from my heart.” As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt; stronger physically, but his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit. Years later that young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes. Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room. Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life. From that day he gave special attention to the case. After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. l Meeting was called to order by President Rtn. Yogesh Gupta at 7.30 PM.

l National Anthem was recited by all.

l President Yogesh invited all members, Anns and Prospective member Sahil Desai.

l He invited Inner Circle President Mrs. Agarwal to join him on the dais.

l He appointed Rtn. Nirmal Agarwal as the sergeant for the day.

l Confirmation of previous meeting minutes were taken. Seconded by Rtns. David and

Yugal Sikri.

l Credits were given to Rtns. Sonali, Pooja, Samir, Debojit Halder, David and Yogesh for

attending 2 meetings of RC Charnock City.

l House was informed that Charter certificate application of Rotaract Club of BIBS will be

sent along with a fees of USD 50.

l Rotaract coordinator Rtn. Debojit informed that Rotaract BIBS desired to have a joint

meeting with us and suggested the date 13th Oct. However, President said date will be

confirmed later.

l Rtn. Debojit informed the house about forthcoming projects:1) Polio Camp at

Thakurpukur on 25th Sept, 2)Nimpith visit for Project Dignity on 25th Sept and

3)Navaneer visit on 29th Sept. He urged members to join for the same.

l President informed about the recently concluded events: 1)The 4-way test with RC

Charnock City and 2) the Food Vegas at Rotary sadan. He thanked members for

participating in the same.

l Fund Raising director Rtn. Vikram Poddar briefed the members about our forthcoming

fund raising endeavors: 1)Project Sparkle-where we would be selling packaged Diwali

crackers costing Rs.1500/-, 3000/- and 5000/- per gift box as per size. He said the club

raised about 2 lakhs last year by selling crackers worth about 10 lakhs. He urged members

to make an effort to sell maximum boxes to near and dear ones this year too and place

their orders in advance.

l Car Rally for the Blind: Vikram informed that our club will be holding the event this year

on 26th and 27th of November. President also briefed the house about the event and said

that we are on the lookout for Sponsors and Start/Finish points. Vikram called out names

of his team and committees. He showed sample sponsorship brochures and said more will

be printed as per requirement. President urged members to scout for sponsors. Rtn. David

suggested that we could use RKMBBA as our finish point. But President cited some

disadvantages of having RKMBBA as the finish point. However, he said we will be inviting

their students to participate.

l Treasurer's Report: It was reported that the club has shifted all money from ICICI Bank to

PNB and all KYC norms have been complied with. Suggestions were seeked from the floor

whether ICICI account should be closed.

l Secretary's Report: Jt. Sec. Rtn. Neeraj Agarwal Reported B'Days and Anniversaries of

members and Anns. Reported attendance 20 present that makes it 45%.

l Any other matter: Guest Sahil Desai was introduced to the house by the proposer Rtn.

Sanjay Choudhary. President thanked Host for the day Rtn. S.K. Mehra for hosting the

meeting followed by karaoke fellowship along with cocktails and dinner.

l Sunshine Box collection by sergeant Rs.1200/-

l President closed the meeting with Thanks.
