Attending our Annual Conference is the place to get that knowledge and set up those professional networks. We will be meeting on August 1 and 2 in Kansas City, with the Sunday classes being open to NIGP attendees as well. We will also have another speed buying event late Saturday after- noon and already have several suppliers interested in attending. We also have some scholarship funds available, so if you need help to attend the conference, please fill out the scholarship application and get it to us. We held our first learning teleconference with Dave from NJPA (http://www.njpacoop.org/national-cooperative-contract- solutions/ ) and Steve, a retired former FAA employee who is now in private consulting. Steve was able to fill us in on a lot of FAA practices and was kind enough to answer all of our ques- tions. All of us found it informative and we will plan future ses- sions that may provide useful information to us as airport pur- chasing professionals. The AFFF foam and the dry chemicals for ARFF are currently in the bid process with NJPA. Chief Kann with the Orlando In- ternational Airport worked directly with NJPA and the ARFF Fire Chiefs Association to put this together. We are exploring other mutually beneficial supplies and services for co-op op- portunities. Any member of APG can utilize NJPA contracts!

Happy Spring! Hope that those of you who were buried with snow this year are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! Spring is the time to plant and grow things. Planting the seeds of knowledge and watching our members network and grow in their abilities is a great thing to observe. Attending our Annual Conference is the place to get that knowledge and set up those professional networks. We will be meeting on August 1 and 2 in Kansas City, with the Sunday classes being open to NIGP attendees as well. We will also have another speed buying event late Saturday after-noon and already have several suppliers interested in attending. If you plan on attending (and we hope you do!), the registration form is on our website. We also have some scholarship funds available, so if you need help to attend the conference, please fill out the scholarship application and get it to us.

We held our first learning teleconference with Dave from NJPA (http://www.njpacoop.org/national-cooperative-contract-solutions/ ) and Steve, a retired former FAA employee who is now in private consulting. Steve was able to fill us in on a lot of FAA practices and was kind enough to answer all of our ques-tions. All of us found it informative and we will plan future ses-sions that may provide useful information to us as airport pur-chasing professionals. (Continued from Page 1) We are always looking for great volunteers, so don’t be shy. Call me or any of the other Board members, we will be happy to get you on any of the committees, or assist you to run for a Board position. Come on, I’m really trying to recruit a new potential President for our group. And finally, a huge thank- you to Carrie Roberts, formerly with the Orlando Airport, who is joining her husband and taking a job in Birmingham. She was the Pro-D for APG and did a marvelous job setting up the conference in Philly, and working with Cindy and Bill from Columbus International Airport to set up this year’s conference in Kansas City. We will miss her and wish her the best of luck in her new adventure. See you in Kansas City!

APG Annual Conference – August 1-2, 2015 Kansas City, MO Many of us continue to feel the sting of budget restrictions for training, networking and staying in touch with what is going on in our industry. That is why I am pleased to announce that APG will be offering scholarships to attend this year’s annual conference in Kansas City, MO. This year’s conference will consist of two full days of training and networking with other airport peers, allowing the opportunity to share knowledge, col-laborate on purchases, and develop a knowledge base of best practices and methods for airport purchasing. APG established the David Wagner Scholarship Award Program for the purpose of providing funds to individual APG members who are interested in furthering the development of their pur-chasing skills and professionalism. You can find the application in the document section of the website. The deadline to submit your application is April 30, 2015. Do not miss this great resource to save on conference expenses! See you in Kansas City! https://www.airportpurchasing.org Tracy Tracy L. Osborne, CPPB APG Vice President

A Membership Committee has been established, and I welcome Patrice Luehring of Clin-ton National Airport who is assisting me in developing ideas for the recruitment of new members. We are targeting two areas for membership focus: (1) welcoming new mem-bers and (2) outreach to non-member airports. A new member “welcome package” has been developed which is being sent to new members after they join. Additionally, we are working to develop a listing of agencies be-longing to NIGP who are not currently participating in APG. We will then disseminate in-formation to them in regards to the benefits of joining APG. I would also encourage you to e-mail me with contact information for potential airports. The member directory is available to current members on our website. Michal Durden & I recently attended a conference provided by Chapter Manager, the firm hosting our website. Some enhancements are anticipated soon that will be beneficial to the membership area including the ability to set up an approval process for new mem-bers interested in joining and a notification “alert” when a new member has enrolled.
