Dear Ladies, a reminder that we do not

meet during the months of July & Au-

Our deepest sympathy to the family of

Past Grand Knight Richard “Dick”

Cimpl who passed away at the age of

91 on June 16th. The beloved husband

of the late Dolores Cimpl who passed

away on Feb. 15th. 2014. Dolores also

was a Ladies Auxiliary member of 524

for many years. May they both rest in

peace, and be reunited in heaven.

The preliminary objectives of this

committee:

1. Identify the monthly events, space

requirements & functionality needs of the

Council and Ladies Aux.

2. Evaluate the storage space required

3. Meet with various Parish committees

& Pastors to see if a mutual arrangement

can be made to utilize their parish as a

home for Council 524.

4. Identify how we can be a positive

support factor to the Parish and their

Pastor. It’s not what can they do for us,

it’s what can we do for the pastor & the

parish, as a partner in Building the

Domestic Church, and the Family fully

alive.

VOCATIONS ARTICLE - Roger Leto

Former U.S. Army Sergeant Eugene Holthaus tells of his 1945 WW II experi-ence in Archdiocese for Military Services quarterly magazine: When we boarded the troop ship we planned to be home by Christmas but rough seas prevented a fast passage. Most of the soldiers experienced severe sea sickness as our ship rolled side to side and up and down in the huge waves of the Atlantic Ocean. The ship’s bow constantly lifted high over the sea, then crashed again deep into the water causing the stern propellers to lift and spin in the air; whew, we had survived combat action but now were in grave peril on the sea.

Christmas Eve approached and we were fortunate to have a chaplain priest on board and he scheduled Midnight Mass in the mess hall using two tables as the altar. We all steadied ourselves by hanging onto other tables while Father kept his footing by leaning against the altar tables. Nearby, brave volunteers tightly held two large altar candles while Father firmly grasped the Paten and Chalice and we all swayed and lurched and nicely sang the beautiful traditional Christ-mas Mass and thanked the Lord for this excellent voyage – you see, we were at last…going home.
