Students in Mrs. Shahan’s science classes are studying energy. Demonstrations were done to illustrate the different forms of energy, such as light, sound, electrical, chemical, mechanical, and thermal. Students in the picture are observing a radiometer spinning under an overhead projector light to demonstrate that light is energy.

BAND CONCERT

The 5th graders have been hard at work learning to play

their instruments. On January 26th, they will

give their FIRST performance, along with the 6th grade band at Crestwood Middle School at 7:00 PM.

The final tally is in and the PTO made $10,836.26 on the Zap-a-Snack and Root Candles fall

fund raiser. Also, we have the winner’s list! Quinn Matter was the top seller

in the 3rd Grade and won $100 and a 5-lb bar of chocolate. The top 5th

Grade seller was Morgan Baird—she also wins $100 and a 5-lb bar of choco-

late. Ashley Marotta was the top 4th Grade and overall seller and she wins a

Netbook portable computer and a 5-lb bar of chocolate. Way to go to every-

one who participated in our very successful fund raiser and especially to these three sellers!

The PTO would also like to thank everyone who purchased spirit wear—we made $1,354.00

to help fund our educational and fun activities for this year.

begin in January for the fifth grade

girls. As hard as it is to believe, it

is time to start helping the fifth

graders get ready for the transition

to Middle School. We will do a

similar lunch bunch group for the

fifth grade boys a little later in the

year.

May all of you have a most blessed

COUNSELOR’S

CONNECTION As I write this I am sitting in my

office surrounded by a mountain of

Christmas gifts. The response to

the “Giving Tree” project

has been amazing. I am

waiting for a few more of

the gifts to be returned,

and then I will distribute

them to the families in plenty of

time for Christmas. I am always

humbled by the generosity of our

parents and staff. I truly

appreciate the kind generosity

represented in these gifts.
