Dear Doctor,
The Bengali New Year brings with it a special joy filled with grandeur and colors. Each year, this time, the Medical Department also celebrates the launch of a new volume of Medical Newsletter.
Women’s health has recently gained worldwide attention with raising concerns on the increasing ignorance prevailing in this population group. By highlighting some issues such as premenstrual syndrome, helminthic infections and an updated guideline for management of menopausal symptoms we would like to initiate awareness for women’s health. We have also focused on this central theme for the Research Review section with recent articles and their findings.
Over the years advances in technology have changed our conventional view while managing patients. Alongside the discovery of new drugs, systems of drug delivery have also shown significant innovation in recent times. Oral soluble films are one such example. Adequate information and availability of such technology will enable physicians to provide the much needed support while handling special cases. We have briefly discussed this fast dissolving technology under Advances in Drug Delivery.
Obesity is recognized as a major public health problem both in the developing and developed world. To such context, we have once again brought up the topic with most recent views and as a reminder for our population.
Lastly, the Medical Research Update section is enriched with several interesting clinical trials and their outcomes which will be quite informative for physicians.
Our objective is to publish current information and insightful reviews of the latest research from the most authentic sources. If you would like to make comments, suggest topics or receive references of articles, please send us an email at the address mentioned in the last page. We hope that this issue will be interesting and useful for you.
Wishing you a very happy and prosperous ’Shuvo Noboborsho 1421’.
