G Writing This year we have been doing Milo G writing which is a thing that you can have music/milo and you write on the computer or in handwriting. You are allowed to have 3 cups of Milo and sometimes Tim-Tams! Kyra Woodwork For the last term we have been doing woodwork in Room 16. First we drew our 3D drawings of our plans then bought our wood in and got started. Some things people are doing in our class are bowl stands, bookshelves, skateboards, cabinets and coffee tables etc. We have also recently finished our plaque woods. Some of us have been varnishing and painting our woodwork that we have finished. Room 16 and ourselves are enjoying woodwork and hope it continues as planned. Indigo and Sophie Debates For the last term Room 16 have been completing debates. Debates give more confidence to kids in public speaking. The last one we completed was “Students that finish high school have to complete a year of National Service”. The class are put into two groups with three speakers each. One team is affirmative and the other a negative. Liam and Mitchell Wakakirri Last term Kaila, Indi, Jasmine, Jade and Olivia started working on a film called “No Way”. Mr McLean has been helping us with the film, he did a great job of directing. We all had a laugh along the way. We were singing, dancing and the best thing of all was having fun! The film was about bullying, because it’s a thing that gets people to cry and be upset and we wanted to show people that bullying is not good and it should stop. • On Wednesday 20 August, Yakamia Primary School held a Book Character Dress Up Day that

encouraged everyone from Kindergarten to Year 7 students to dress up as their favourite book

We would like to say a big thank you to all the students, teachers and parents who dressed up and

  • The Early Childhood Centre held a pirate dress up day on Friday 15 August to celebrate the opening

of their new Pirate Ship playground. Many thanks to the parent committee for organising the moving

of the boat from its previous mooring to the present position and incorporating the new jetty area.

The children, teachers and parents dressed up, played old fashioned games, walked the plank and

then had a pirate feast to follow. The students love their new play area!
