1) Read a book:

If you like reading, just before

dinner could be a good time to read

a few pages of the book you‘re

reading at the moment. Maybe you

could use this time to start a new

series that your friend told you

about, or read some of those old

books on the shelf that you have

never looked at before. If you are

going on a trip soon, you could also

read about where you are going!

2) Take care of your p

et:

If you have a pet, now could be

the perfect time to take care of

it. Minim thinks it might be really

nice if you gave your pet fresh w

food and water so it could eat at

the same time as you do. If you

have a dog, Minim also thinks

you could take it outside in a

nearby park or garden so it can

get enough exercise.

3) Do your homework:Maybe this sounds boring, but Minim

thinks it‘s actually a really good

idea. If you only have a little bit of

homework to do, you don‘t need to all of you small homework before

dinner. That way, you‘ll have more

time to do what you really want to do

afterwards!

4) Practice playing

an instrument/singing:

You‘re musical? Well, then Minim

has a great idea for using your time

before dinner: you can practice

playing your instrument or singing!

Even if you want to practice for

longer than 30 minutes, you can make

eating dinner your break before you

continue practicing.

5) Call a friend:

Minim thinks that even if you don‘t

have time to invite a friend over,

you can always call them and have

a nice, long conversation with them

just before dinner. Do you know

somebody who lives far away who

you haven’t talked to for a while?

Send them an email! This could also

be a good time to send an email or a

letter to your grandmother or other

relatives and tell them about what

you’ve been up to.7

Minim loves creative work and he often visits VIS to see

what you are all up to. In each edition he will publish

work on this page: remember to check it as it might be

yours! You should also watch out in your class rooms.

When he visits he will

leave a ‘You’ve been

moled’ sticker (like

the one on this

page) near your

work to show

you that he

likes it...

Have

you ever

wondered

where

else in the

world your

language

is spoken?

Minim, who

knows a

few words

in numerous

languages,

has been

doing some

explorative

tunneling.

Wherever

Minim

popped up

his head

he tried

to identify

12

what language

was spoken there.

However, he has

explorations.

Can you tell us

what the

others are?

Page 13: VIS Spotlight Student Magazine

If you can

identify ten more

languages then make a

list of the language and its

country, put your name on it

and drop it in The Mole Box

in the primary library.

Did you know

that there are about 200

countries in the world?

shapes, sizes, and colors.

Some of them are very similar

in the design but have

different colors.

For example,

France,

has the same design as

Italy,

a little bit different.

There

are many

three stripes. Some of

them go up and down,

and some of them go

side to side.

Minim, The Mole

The Mole Box in the

Primary Library

Dear Minim,

do something really special, like my friend can draw

almost perfectly, but I can’t do anything special. I

feel boring and I’m afraid that nobody will want to be

my friend anymore. What do I do?

20

Page 21: VIS Spotlight Student Magazine

Dear Minim,

I recently found out that my best friend is moving

far away, practically to the other end of the world

(Australia). I am so unhappy...I have known them for

years and years, they‘re like a sibling to me! I am so

terribly unhappy about losing them that I can‘t even

enjoy the time I have left with them. I also don‘t have

many other friends, because I always just spent time

with my best friend, so I feel like I will be really alone

when my best friend is gone. What should I do?
