• Make sure that incoming voltage is the sameas unit rating. An electric rating platespecifying voltage, frequency, wattage, amperage, and phase is attached to theproduct.

• To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, orinjury to persons, installation work andelectrical wiring must be done by qualifiedpeople in accordance with all applicablecodes and standards, including fire-ratedconstruction.

• The installer should leave these instructionswith the consumer who should retain themfor local inspector’s use and for futurereference.

contents of the refrigerator. Floors underneath refrigerator are level with surrounding finishedfloor.

• Cutout dimensions are accurate.• Ceiling height must allow for side tipping radius. • Location should permit door to open fully. • Location must permit top grille removal.

Electrical RequirementsIMPORTANT–Please Read and Follow!

Before you move your refrigerator into itsfinal location, it is important to make sureyou have the proper electrical and watersupply connections installed..

RReeccoommmmeennddeedd GGrroouunnddiinngg MMeetthhooddA grounded 3-prong electrical outlet shouldbe placed within 10” (25.4cm) of the rightside cabinets or end panel with a 115 volt,60 Hz., AC only, 15- or 20-amp fused, grounded electrical supply. It isecommended that a separate circuit servingonly your refrigerator be provided. Use anoutlet that cannot be turned off by a switch.Do not use an extension cord.

It is the customer’s responsibility to:• Contact a qualified electrical installer.• Assure that the electrical installation isadequate and in conformance with theNational Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70-latest edition or Canadian Electrical CodeC22.1-1998 and C22.2 No. 0-M91 (orlatest edition), and all local codes andordinances. A 115 volt, 60-Hz, 15 amp, fused, electrical supply is required.

If codes permit a separate grounding wire tobe used, it is recommended that a qualifiedelectrician determine that the groundingpath is adequate.

DDOO NNOOTT ground to a gas pipe. Check with aqualified electrician if you are not sure theappliance is properly grounded. DDOO NNOOTThave a fuse in the neutral or groundingcircuit.

IIMMPPOORRTTAANNTT: If this product is connected toa GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter)protected outlet, nuisance tripping of thepower supply may occur, resulting in loss ofcooling. Food quality and flavor may beaffected. If nuisance tripping has occurred, and if the condition of the food appearspoor, dispose of it.

NNOOTTEE: Before performing any type ofinstallation, cleaning, or removing a lightbulb, remove the top grille and turn themaster power switch to OFF or disconnectpower at the circuit breaker box.

When you are finished, turn ON the masterpower switch or reconnect power at thecircuit breaker box. Then reset the control tothe desired setting.

HAZARD• Plug into a grounded 3-prong plug.

• Do not remove groundingplug.

• Do not use an adapter.• Do not use an extension cord.

Failure to followthese instructions canresult in death, fire, or electrical shock.

Most of the unit’s weight is at the top. Extra care is needed when moving the unit toprevent tipping. Use cardboard shipping material or plywood under unit until it isinstalled in the operating position to protect floor surface.

Use only 1/4” (6 mm) copper tubing for waterline. Do Not install copper tubing in areawhere temperatures drop below 35˚ F (1.7˚ C). • Viking Range, LLC is not responsible forproperty damage due to improperinstallation or water connection.

• Length of copper tubing must reach fromwater supply connection to the unitconnection with an additional length tofacilitate moving the unit out of enclosure forcleaning or service. Tubing should be softinstead of rigid and ends should be free ofburrs.

• If additional tubing is needed, use coppertubing and check for leaks. Install the coppertubing only in areas where the householdtemperatures will remain above freezing.

• Do not use plastic water lines from the household plumbing to the water inlet valve connection on the refrigeration unit.

• Do not use the self-piercing feature of asaddle valve. The hole made by the piercinglance is too small for the water flow raterequired by the ice maker.

WWaatteerr PPrreessssuurreeA cold water supply with water pressurebetween 30 and 120 psi (207 and 827 kPa) isrequired to operate the water dispenser andice maker. If you have questions about yourwater pressure, call a licensed, qualifiedplumber.

RReevveerrssee OOssmmoossiiss WWaatteerr SSuuppppllyyIMPORTANT: The pressure of the watersupply coming out of a reverse osmosissystem going to the water inlet valve of therefrigerator needs to be between 30 and120 psi (207 and 827 kPa).

If a reverse osmosis water filtration system isconnected to your cold water supply, thewater pressure to the reverse osmosissystem needs to be a minimum of 40 to 60psi (276 to 414 kPa). If the water pressure tothe reverse osmosis system is less than40 to 60 psi (276 to 414 kPa):• Check to see whether the sediment filter in

the reverse osmosis system is blocked.Replace the filter if necessary.

• Allow the storage tank on the reverseosmosis system to refill after heavy usage.

• If your refrigerator has a water filtercartridge, it may further reduce the waterpressure when used in conjunction with areverse osmosis system. Remove the waterfilter cartridge. If you have questions aboutyour water pressure, call a licensed, qualified plumber.

Water Supply Requirements

W A R N I N GTo avoid serious illness or death, do not use unitwhere water is microbiologically unsafe or ofunknown quality without adequate disinfectionbefore or after the system. Systems certified forcyst reduction may be used on disinfected waterthat may contain filterable cysts. The contaminantsor other substances removed or reduced by thiswater treatment system are not necessarily in youwater.

• The water shutoff should be located in thebase cabinet on either side of therefrigerator or some other easily accessiblearea. The right-hand side is recommended. The access hole through the cabinet mustbe within ¹⁄2" (12.7 mm) of the rear wall.

NNOOTTEE: If the water shutoff valve is in theback wall behind the refrigerator, it must beat an angle so that the tube is not kinkedwhen the refrigerator is pushed into its finallocation.

• If the water shutoff valve is not in thecabinets, the plumbing for the water linecan come through the floor. A ¹⁄2" (12.7mm) hole for plumbing should be drilled atleast 6" (15.2 cm) fromthe right or lefthand side cabinet or panel. On the floor, the hole should be no more than 1" (2.54cm) away from the back wall. See“Connect the Water Supply”.
