Lord,

You invite all who are burdened to come to you. Allow Your healing hand to heal them. Touch their soul with Your compassion for others. Touch their Heart with Your courage and infinite love for all. Touch their mind with Your wisdom, that their mouth may always pro-claim Your praise. Te-ach them to reach out to You in their need, and

help them to lead others to You by example. Most loving Heart of Jesús, bring them health in body and spirit that they may serve You with all their strength. Touch gently these lives which You have created, now and forever. Amen.

Aug. 26, 2012 = 21st Sunday of the Year – B

Over the next few months, the Administrator’s Corner will try to explain and discover with you the hope and joy of the rituals and practices that we do in the Catholic Church as they relate to our faith. The first question is:

Why do Catholics bless themselves before and after entering church?

Old Testament Jews washed with water before entering the Temple precincts. Building on a ritual familiar to the Jews, John the Baptist used water to represent repentance of sin and purification.

So when we cross ourselves with holy water on entering and leaving the church, we recall that history. But we also refer to our Baptism when the priest used to symbolize the washing away of our sins and to protect

us from evil. God bless you.

Father Alex
