The North Alabama Chapter of IFMA’s August 2012 program on Collaborative Workspaces was sponsored by Office Environments and Herman Miller.

What’s the most important part of any meeting – THE FOOD!!!! ADTRAN’S baked potato bar with salad and dessert is always a favorite.

Forty-four attendees networked and enjoyed a great lunch before the meeting started in ADTRAN’s East Tower Penthouse conference room. Definitely a ROOM WITH A VIEW!

Brian Rodgers, President of AMP Quality Energy Services, and one of our newest members, is seen presenting info on his company. This is a fairly new idea that came out of our January 2012 planning sessions. Each meeting, we draw a name from a pot of associate members and the winner gets to present something about his company or handout freebies, etc., at the next monthly meeting.

Bill Casey, Office Environments, did a great job introducing the speaker, Margaret Gilchrist Serrato.

Margaret has over twenty years research and design experience as a Workplace Strategist at Herman Miller. She did a wonderful job presenting this fairly new concept. The presentation explored the nature and importance of informal interaction and demonstrated the practical application of Space Syntax, a method for predicting patterns of movement and interaction, within the workplace.

At the close of the meeting, Johnny Hunkapiller, Chapter President, presented Margaret with an IFMA coffee mug containing Starbucks gift cards. Not bad for a 45 minute talk!
