NEWS

Market blooms in wintry weatherLightsview’s Sunday morning Farmers’ Market is going from

strength to strength, even as the weather remains cool.

Open every Sunday throughout winter, the market is looking

to grow and diversify in the near future.

“We want to try and get as much variety into it as possible so

you can do almost all of your shopping at the market,” says

market manager David Cook. “In the next two months we’re

going to be expanding to have up to 25-30 stalls each week and

we’ll be hoping to get more of the community involved.”

With an emphasis on local, organic and pesticide-free produce,

shopping at the market is as good for you as it is for farmers.

The market is located at the corner of City View Boulevard and

Folland Avenue, opposite the Sales and Information Centre. It’s

on every Sunday between 8am and 1pm. For more information

call 0409 929 070.

Harvest timeLightsview’s home gardeners are gearing up for another year

building their skills with Urban Sprout and the Magic Harvest

program. Under the watchful eye of gardener Paula Winen,

many residents will spend winter and spring learning techniques

for producing their own fruit and vegetables in the communal

garden beds near the Urban Lights Café.

This is the third year running for the successful horticulture

lessons, which have sprouted more than a few green thumbs

around the suburb. If you’re interested in learning how to

keep those veggies alive, visit www.lightsview.com.au or

call 8261 1888 for more details.

Viewpoint would like to heartily

What’s on at LightsviewThe coming months at Lightsview are full of community events

that will get you (and the kids) out of the house.

Excited about the idea of building a strong and diverse community,

Lightsview organises events that happen year round. As the

evenings get longer and cool weather clears out, it’s a particularly

good time for meeting friends and neighbours in the local area.

Be it an outdoor movie screening, school holiday activity or a

special event like the Festival, there’s always something to do

at Lightsview.

For more information on these events, call us on 8261 1888, follow us

on Facebook (facebook.com/lightsview) or register your contact details

at lightsview.com.au to receive regular updates.

Urban Lights Café to sparkle longerThe Urban Lights Café, a favourite spot for Lightsview locals,

is celebrating winter’s end with longer opening hours.

Now open every night from Thursday to Saturday until 10pm

and on Sundays until 6pm, the eatery will be firing up the wood

oven to keep people well fed long after dusk falls.

Offering a new menu of traditional and inventive wood oven

pizzas, calzone as well as staples like lasagne, the café is also

fully licensed. They’re not forgetting the other most important

part of the day either and are open early to serve your morning

coffee with a smile from Tuesday to Sunday.

For more information or to book, call 8261 0700 or visit their

Facebook page.

Register to Ride Like CrazyThe sixth annual Lightsview ‘Ride Like

Crazy’ was a resounding success in

January this year. Hundreds of cyclists

took on the 107km, 90km and 51km

courses to raise $250,000 for cancer

research at the Flinders Medical Centre

Foundation and the Neurosurgical

Research Foundation. In 2015 they

exceeded their $1m fund raising target!

Registrations are open for the 2016 event

which will once again be supported by

Lightsview, so visit www.ridelikecrazy.com

to sign up for next year’s ride and start

training now!

New lease on life for Performing Arts CentreThe former David Campbell Performing

Arts Centre building is set to be revitalised

as a childcare centre.

An important part of serving the growing

and diverse Lightsview community,

the proposed childcare centre will be

housed in this existing building after a

full conversion has been undertaken

by a future owner of the facility and

the operator.

Lightsview has opened registrations

of interest from potential owners and

operators of this facility ahead of a tender

process for its sale. For more information

contact Antony Brabham on 8261 1888.

Head east for quick city connectWork on Lightsview’s major connecting thoroughfare – East

Parkway – has been completed and opened to the public for

even quicker access from the city.

Running between Hampstead Road and Fosters Road, East

Parkway links Lightsview seamlessly into city commute routes

and lightens traffic load on surrounding streets. Bus routes

will soon be diverted along its length and it is accompanied

by walking and cycling paths, so no matter how you travel

East Parkway is making the commute faster.

ON DISPLAY

Family and friendlyA sophisticated material palette and clever floor plan make Scott Salisbury Homes’ newest house at Lightsview perfect for family life and entertaining.

Working out whether the features of

their new display home at Lightsview

were right for the market was easy for

Scott Salisbury Homes’ General Manager

Lyndon Henman.

With a young family of his own, he is

exactly the kind of buyer the home is

built for.

“This is geared toward the family in their

30’s or 40’s with two-and-a-half children

and maybe a dog,” he says.

“I usually ask myself ‘Could I live here?’.

I think about where I would be sitting on

a Sunday morning with the paper and a

coffee and where I would be playing with

my daughter. If you can’t visualise that

then you’ve missed the mark.”

Fortunately ‘Parksfield’ – the company’s

fourth display home at Lightsview – has

well and truly hit the mark. With four

bedrooms and three living areas spread

over two storeys in a contemporary and

architecturally-inspired design, there is

plenty of room for both family activities

and quiet times.

The textured material palette and large

downstairs living area that can be opened

onto the rear courtyard by means of

bi-fold doors also make it a great home

for entertaining.

“Internally it has timber cladding and

flooring, aluminium windows, stone

benchtops that return to the floor,

wallpapers and soft furnishings,” says

Lyndon. “The layering of textures and

natural materials give the family-friendly

home a warm ambience. It really has

an entertaining feel about it as well as

a family feel.”

Located in Lightsview’s prestigious

Waterford precinct, the dual-fronted

home’s features reflect the similarities

between Scott Salisbury Homes’ aims

as a company and the priorities of the

emerging suburb.

Focussing on quality craftsmanship

and high design ideals in each house

they design, Scott Salisbury Homes

find they can satisfy Lightsview’s build

requirements easily.

The ‘Parksfield’ has been designed with dual frontages so that it faces the street as well as the Waterford lakes to the rear.

The natural material palette on show.

Page 5: Viewpoint [Edition 13]

Viewpoint edition [13] Lightsview community news Page 5

“For example, using a combination of

three separate materials on a home

frontage is something Lightsview require

but it’s also something we like doing, and

do well,” says Lyndon. “The front façade on

this home has a range of different render,

timber and steel.”

The spread of potential buyers drawn to

visit Lightsview also fits well with Scott

Salisbury Homes’ ever-growing market.

“Location wise, for us it’s a successful

place,” says Lyndon. “The environment

created is exceptional in terms of its

visitors so that’s a big part of why we

like being there. You get a mix of market

demographics come through the display

centre as well.”

Building homes that inspire and providing

customers with the opportunity to create

personalised designs that suit their

lifestyle is key for Scott Salisbury Homes.

To do this, reaching a diverse suite of

buyers like those found at Lightsview

is important, as is providing high-level

service. Lyndon says this is something

that the brand is well known for.

“We have high expectations in terms

of the quality of our homes and the

overall experience for our customers,”

says Lyndon.

“If you purchased a luxury brand car

there’s an unwritten expectation of

quality no matter which model you

choose. It’s still made and engineered

in the same way. We think the same is

true of us.”

Coming up to their 25th year in business,

Scott Salisbury Homes has plenty of

quality homes in their portfolio and the

latest at Lightsview is no exception. Over

the next 25 years there will no doubt be

many more.

‘Parksfield’ is on display at 44 Waterford

Circuit Lightsview and is open for viewing on

Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays

between 1pm and 4.30pm.

The Parksfield is designed to suit 12.5m wide executive allotments at Lightsview, with land price starting from $290,000. For the latest stock availability call us on 8261 1888 or register your interest at lightsview.com.au

A striking feature staircase is framed by floor to ceiling glass.

New innovatively designed apartments

planned to sit in the middle of Lightsview’s

new central precinct give those who

missed out on the popular first release

another chance at low-maintenance,

convenient living in beautiful surrounds.

Registrations of interest are now

being accepted for the fresh release of

apartments, in which each home has a

private balcony or courtyard, off-street

parking, lift access, 25 year structural

guarantee and high-grade specifications

such as stainless steel kitchen appliances

and a choice of three colour schemes.

Buying in Lightsview means that the

low-maintenance lifestyle of apartment

living doesn’t come at the cost of

spaciousness. The entire suburb is

spotted with parks and recreation areas,

and open space is never more than

200m from your front door.

But those considering apartment living

in the new release, which is located close

to a new lake and extensive park network

on East Parkway, are especially well

catered for.

Residents here will become part of a

waterfront neighbourhood that is also

home to an exciting community hub.

Lakes, a wetland network, parks and

several dedicated community spaces

surround the area and link up through a

series of cycling and walking tracks.

Priced from $295,000, the new apartments available in this attractive emerging precinct are bound to be just as popular as the first release. This latest release is only a moment’s walk

from the exciting Lightsview Central Park

network that will comprise a new lake,

planned community and dining facilities

and an immediate link to a new reserve

network commencing this year. While

adults will enjoy the planned restaurant

with its terrace al fresco dining area, kids

will love the water feature and landscaped

play spaces that will be perfect for

running around with new friends.

Recreation areas, including a designated

youth zone for older kids and a nature-

themed playing facility for younger

children are also just moments away

from the apartment complex. Kids will

be occupied for hours climbing and

exploring in the nature play area, which

is decked out with an array of equipment.

All built using the latest materials and

technologies, safety is just as important

as fun at this unique playground.

The network of wetlands planned to

stretch out beyond these hubs offer the

perfect opportunity for quieter moments.

Criss-crossed by trails and dotted with

fitness stations and viewing decks, they’re

a chance to stay close to nature, even in

the middle of a suburb that sits just 8km

from Adelaide’s CBD.

apartments by viewing our animated feature

New apartments: Best of both worlds After the sell out success of Lightsview’s first apartments, a new release in the suburb’s central precinct is attracting huge interest.

In focus: Terrace 344Utilising a new method for maximising the potential

of a land parcel, the Terrace 344 is a spacious

and comfortable home that comes without the

high price tag.

The Terrace 344 cleverly uses every square metre of

the Torrens titled land on which it sits. Comprising

three bedrooms, two living rooms, two ensuites,

a powder room, kitchen, balconies on levels one and

two and a ground floor courtyard, the home features

as many rooms you would find in a traditional

suburban house, but in a contemporary three-level

layout perfectly suited to modern life.

Good design means a six-star energy rating that

will save money on power bills and, along with the

solar-boosted gas hot water service and recycled

water connection, make it the right choice for today’s

planet-conscious population.

While more traditionally designed terraces can

suffer from limited air and light flow, the Terrace

344 adheres to world’s best practice design by

incorporating a light well in the central part of the

building. The void extends up the full height of

the home and lets fresh air and daylight circulate

through every storey.

The design values of the build extend beyond the

home’s innovative functionality. Aesthetics have

been given as much consideration as practicalities,

with each of the individually constructed dwellings

fronted by a feature façade that conforms to

Lightsview’s high standards of streetscape diversity.

Including high quality finishes and joinery, the

Terrace 344 is offered for sale off-the-plan for the

affordable price of $394,950. Part of Lightsview’s

varied range of turn-key products, it represents one

of Adelaide’s best value properties in a suburb that

is quickly emerging as a national leader.

Located just 8km from the city, Lightsview is a

multi-award-winning suburb that is attracting

attention for its abundant open space and

community-oriented ideals.

A new Rendition Cancer Prevention Home is now under

construction and aims to repeat the fantastic result of this

year’s auction. To view the Terrace 344 display or to register

for information on the next charity home, call 8261 1888.

DESIGN

The Terrace 344, with its internationally inspired architecture that caters to a modern lifestyle, is the embodiment of Lightsview’s progressive approach to creating the most liveable suburb in Australia.

Home for good

COMMUNITY

A successful auction of the Rendition Cancer Prevention Home at Lightsview has raised $90,000 for cancer research and given one couple a meaningful new home.

Although they had inspected and loved

the property, prospective buyers Neil and

Sue almost didn’t go to the auction of the

Rendition Cancer Prevention Home.

“The couple of home auctions we went

to before the cancer prevention auction

went for much higher than we thought

and we came away thinking we won’t get

anything and were quite disheartened,”

says Neil.

But, having decided to give auctions

another chance, the couple were delighted

to find they were the highest bidder at the

June 6 sale.

Hosted by Anthony Toop, the auction

was no everyday affair. Rather than

simply selling or buying a home, everyone

present on the day was part of raising

a significant $90,000 in funds for the

Flinders Medical Centre to put towards

research into cancer prevention.

This impressive outcome was made

possible by the dedication of those

involved. Rendition Homes invested

heavily by building the house – a

European-inspired three storey dwelling,

known as Terrace 344 (featured on

this page) and designed by the team at

Lightsview. Toop & Toop Real Estate was

also integral in supporting the sale of the

home as it came to market.

Neil and Sue were originally attracted to

the clever Terrace 344 when the couple

saw it online. They say they were “even

more impressed” when they attended an

open inspection at the Rendition Cancer

Prevention Home, which comes with

several upgrades included such as air

conditioning, stone kitchen benchtops,

glass splash-backs and an intercom. But

beyond feeling an affinity for the building

itself, they had a personal connection to

the cause.

“Sue has had a cancer scare herself,”

says Neil.

“Last year she had a persistent cough

for a few months and went for a scan…

but after a bronchoscopy it was only an

infection. However, the scan did reveal

a very rare tumour on her adrenal gland

which has since been removed and she

has recovered well.”

In talking about their new home and

their reasons for buying it, Neil and Sue

were hopeful they could raise awareness

and encourage more people to be serious

about preventative health care. It’s a

good cause – and one they, Toop & Toop,

Lightsview and Rendition Homes have

already contributed to considerably.

Keep an eye out for the next Rendition Cancer

Prevention Home auction, which is likely to

happen in the first half of 2016.

Neil happily claims his new home.

Terrace 238: Pushing the boundaries

NEW THINKING

Innovation in compact allotment homes is taken to the next level with Lightsview’s latest initiative – the Terrace 238.

The Terrace 238 is the evolution of

Lightsview’s popular Loft 38 – an

affordable three-bedroom home with an

open and airy feel that defies its physical

footprint on a block just 3.8m wide.

Extending and developing the concepts

used to make the Loft 38 so appealing,

the Terrace 238 adds a second level to

accommodate a three-bedroom floor plan

with two bathrooms, a powder room,

dedicated living area, galley kitchen,

dining area, courtyard and off-street

parking.

Lightsview’s success in developing

homes that fit spacious floor plans

on small blocks without sacrificing

comfort is the result of the design team’s

intensive research and innovation. Smart

architectural thinking means these

houses retain the essential elements

for human well-being such as light

penetration, air flow and line of sight

while still using space efficiently.

Highlights of the Terrace 238 design,

which has been developed by Lightsview

in consultation with architects Swanbury

Penglase, include the use of three voids

that let sunlight fall along the length

of both storeys.

The placement of large picture windows at

key points – such as on the frontage of the

home and bordering the courtyard – gives

a strong impression of volume, which

is augmented by the use of a carefully

chosen interior material palette. Reflective

and transparent surfaces and finishes

in light wooden hues create a seamless

relationship between outside and inside.

Designed specifically with the intention

of challenging the limitations of small

block design thinking, the Terrace 238

demonstrates Lightsview’s commitment

to finding high quality solutions that offer

outstanding value for money.

The first release of Terrace 238 fixed price

house and land packages is planned for later

this year. Register today at lightsview.com.au

CONTEMPORARY

Lightsview’s Urban Garage brings together all the benefits of contemporary living in one smart design package.

Exclusive to Lightsview and inspired

by unique European design forms and

an industrial warehouse aesthetic,

this three storey Torrens titled home

represents incredible value in Adelaide’s

best new address.

With an outstanding fixed price ‘turn-

key’ specification, the Urban Garage’s

design offers alternative modern style

and a smart use of space. The result

is low maintenance living without

sacrificing lifestyle.

Everything has been thought out,

including: a laundry chute from the

top level to the ground level laundry;

maximisation of natural light with an

internal void between levels one and two

and a clever split-level roof line to allow

natural light throughout the whole home.

At ground level, the automated feature

garage door opens to a single car garage,

laundry area, guest toilet and adaptable

second living space that is perfect for an

office, home gym or could be the space

you need to get away and get creative.

Step up to the first level living area to

find more examples of well-purposed

space with a balcony and ceiling void that

invite views of the surroundings into the

kitchen, dining and sitting rooms.

Arrive at the top level and really feel at

including a master with private balcony

– and well-appointed bathroom.
