What are we doing this week in Early Years and Year 1? Hello everyone! This week has been very exciting for the children in Early Year, Year 1 and the staff. In Early Year department we were focusing on colours (matching, looking for one odd out in boxes and trays, programing interactive screens in studio and mixing colours during art activities). Our pupils also enjoyed the visit from Friendly Bear from ‘How to put this on’ story who was teaching them how to put clothing on. In maths we were learning about short and long as we were dancing with long and short ribbons. On Thursday, children had been surprised by Sophie – a singer who sang and play guitar to us. All the children were amazed. They listened, sang, danced and just simply had been feeling the vibration on Sophie’s guitar as she played calming music. We would like to say a big thank you to Sophie for her visit, it was a great success. This week in EY w have invited some ‘new guests’ from a ‘Messy guests’ story. During literacy pupils will listen to our new story and will find out that the guests from the story are going to be a bit messy. This means a lot of sensory materials, a lot of exploring and a lot of tidying up. During maths lessons our children will be learning about capacity. By pouring water and sensory materials from container to container they will learn about full and empty. In Camel and Bear class we have opened up both of the classrooms for the children to explore and use. At first everyone swapped classes! The second day the children began to mix and utilize both rooms as well as play with all the toys and started to participate in adult led activities. Staff members were using both rooms to carry on teaching the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum for the first time. Because of this we would love to give to all of our Year One pupils more space to learn and be less restricted. Children had a

Children had a chance to listen to stories about transport and also managed to go for the train ride in Camel class when taking part in ‘Train ride’ story. This week in Year One we will follow Transport/Construction theme. Children will have a chance to take part in a ‘The journey home from grandpa’ story and will learn about many others types of transport. We will support our students learning with areas set up with lots of shapes and numbers.

We are definitely going to learn a lot and we will have fun!

Children from Year One can’t wait until Friday when all the parents have been invited to come along and spend some time in Camel and Bear classes.
