Thinking God’s Thoughts and Speaking God’s Word

REPEAL AND REPLACE

We are launching on a journey of resurrection celebration. A celebration born out of separation and sacrifice. The 40 days before Passover/Easter is referred to as the Lenten season. The word Lenten is taken from the Anglo-Saxon word Lencten meaning spring; a season of new beginnings. It is a time to remember God so loved the world that He gave His Son for the redemption of all. For us it is a time of reflection, repentance and realignment. During this exact same time, a little over 2000 years ago, Jesus was preparing all mankind and Himself for what He was about to do - literally save the world.

This 40-day devotional is a setting apart to die to the flesh and everything that would exalt itself against the completed work of Jesus. The word “fast” in the Hebrew means “to shut the mouth.” What an honor to fast (or shut the mouth) negative thoughts, words, and mindsets, reminding us that we are new creatures with a new creation reality. It is no longer I that lives, but Christ that lives in me!

Let’s journey together the 40 days before our Savior and King gave His Life. Remember, no man took His life, but He laid it down willingly. Let us choose, in this same way, to willingly be set apart. From the day we surrendered to the Love of God and asked Jesus to be the Lord of our lives, we have been learning how to acknowledge and unlock the treasures of our living inheritance. Jesus told us not to fear. It is the Father’s good pleasure to give us the Kingdom. We have a new king, and we long for Him to be enthroned upon our hearts. The Word says that we have the mind of Christ and can understand all things (1 Corinthians 2:16). We are going to acknowledge and engage with His Mind, His Heart, and His Word.

Every day is truly a day of resurrection celebration when you recognize the fast He chooses for us is loosing the bands of wickedness and destroying yokes of bondage (Isaiah 58:3). We are not giving up negativity, we are simply forgetting those things that are behind, that are beneath, that are below the magnificent station where the blood of Jesus has elevated us. We celebrate Jesus’s resurrection by following Him the next forty days with set apart hearts and minds.

SPECIAL NOTE: Recently, in the news, we have been hearing a phrase: “Repeal and Replace.” Adopting this theme as our format, we are repealing, or dismantling old mind sets

and replacing them with Jesus, the Word. This, we do with purpose and on purpose! Each day of transforming celebration will have a mindset to repeal

and the power of the Word to replace that old mindset. Hallelujah! He is Risen…in Me…Indeed!

40 days we close our mind and our mouths to negative thoughts and words.

We open our hearts and mouths with gracious words, thanking God we are encountering the harvest of the peaceable fruits of righteousness.

WE ARE BEING TRANSFORMED BY THE RENEWING OF OUR MINDS

AS HE IS SO ARE WE IN THIS WORLD

Day 1

Ephesians 4:29 - REPEALLet no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. Philippians 4:8 - REPLACEFinally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. You change your life when you change your mind. We are who we think we are, and what we think we eventually say. This frames our world and the world of others around us. Today, remember we celebrate resurrection by thinking, speaking and acting on what is lovely, honorable, and excellent, because Jesus has paid the price and won the day! Take your mind captive with the Love of God. The word repentance means to return to the heights. Laugh at the idea that bondage can no longer hold you captive. Laugh in the face of adversity. Jesus is your champion!

Day 2

2 Corinthians 10:5 - REPEALWe destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, Hebrews 4:12 &16 - REPLACEFor the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. We must be willing to be ruthless with ourselves in this area. Everything begins with a thought. “As a man thinks in his heart so is he” (Proverbs 23:7). Also it says in Philippians 2:5, “Let this mind [heart] be in you which is also in Christ Jesus.” Nothing changes if my mind does not change. Jesus has paid it all, but a poverty mindset may persist in our way of thinking. Bill Johnson once said, “I cannot afford to have a thought in my mind that God does not have in His.”Let God’s word be the sword that divides death from life in your thoughts, intents and actions. This sword [Word of God] brings life, and life more abundant! Wield the sword with power today!

Day 3

Philippians 4:6 - REPEALDo not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Hebrews 4:16 - REPLACETherefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.A prayer is a petition. When you sign a petition, you want change! Jesus signed on the dotted line with His blood! He paid the price and fulfilled the contract! Supplication means humbly asking for something. Today, remember, Jesus said, your Father already knows what you need. There is no need to toil and spin in Him. Let anxious thoughts go and replace them with loving, confident trust that beckons you to come near. In that nearness, His Presence is our grace, mercy, joy…our EVERYTHING. He’s all I need, for he meets every need.

Day 4

2 Timothy 1:7(a) – REPEALFor God has not given us a spirit of fear, [but of power, love and a sound mind].Isaiah 41:10 - REPLACEFear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. There are certain truths that must be settled in your heart for your mind to be calibrated to His Kingdom and for you to be a victorious, conquering son and daughter. You must believe that God is good and that He loves you. God’s perfect love casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). Remember He loved you first, before you ever knew Him. It was His love that found you and brought you into Himself. Rest in that love today. Think about it, talk about it, give it away. Freely you have received, freely you give! (Matthew 10:8)

Day 5

Isaiah 58:6 - REPEALIs this not the fast which I choose, to loosen the bonds of wickedness to undo the bands of the yoke and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?Isaiah 61:1 - REPLACEThe Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,Because the LORD has anointed meTo bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,To proclaim liberty to captivesAnd freedom to prisoners; You were created with your divine purpose intact. You just need to remember who you are. Jesus said in John 12:49, “I only say what I hear my Father say. I only do what I see my Father do.” Jesus came to destroy the works of the enemy (1 John 3:8). You must think His thoughts to finish His works. Think His thoughts today. Take every other thought captive! Acknowledge and engage with your freedom today. Thank Him for opening your prison door, then turn around and bring freedom with your words and deeds to someone bound in heaviness, lack, fear. Here’s your key: PROCLAIM LIBERTY TO CAPTIVES. Your freedom miracle for you and your loved ones is in your mouth! (Romans 10:8)

Day 6

Ephesians 4:31 - REPEALLet all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Ephesians 4:32 - REPLACEBe kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. “And when you stand praying, forgive, if you have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses” (Mark 11:25). Remember, Day 3, we talked about a petition/prayer representing crying out for change. The laws of sowing, reaping and choosing life over death are forever before us as co-creators with God. We can only represent Him as we surrender to His way of being and doing in the earth. “We are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:22). “Be angry and sin not” (Ephesians 4:26). “Overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:21). See you do have a choice…a good choice, in Jesus!

Day 7

Philippians 2:14 - REPEALDo all things without grumbling or questioning, Colossians 3:23-24 - REPLACEWhatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.Remember, thoughts are things! Psalm 1:19 says, “if you be willing and obedient you will eat the good of the land.” As the mature sons and daughters of God, it’s not just about our words and deeds; but equally our thoughts and intent. Obedience without willingness will eventually be like a false balance [a way to cheat]. Sure, at first, we learn to do things out of obedience, then we grow up and walk in His ways because of love. I’ve heard it said that it was not nails that held Jesus to the cross, it was love. God loved and He gave. Jesus loved and He gave. Love is the unfathomable power that frames our service. I love God; therefore, I serve you. Let the simplest task today not be performed because of necessity, but because of love.

Day 8

Proverbs 6:2 - REPEALYou are snared by the words of your mouth; you are taken by the words of your mouthPsalm 19:14 - REPLACELet the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. As we begin a new week, let’s recall our purpose. Stopping negative thoughts, words and deeds; and instead, releasing the power, glory, and dominion of the Kingdom of God. By now, you are aware of the amazing transformation that comes through harnessing the power of your thoughts and words. Today, we can boldly say Romans 8:31, “If God be for me, who can be against me.” As our minds are fixed on Him (Hebrews 3:1) the previously hidden traps and snares that we gave into without a fight, are visible in plain sight and we have learned to remove ourselves far away from the calamity of wrong thinking. We are practicing what gives us the staying power to remain in His presence, hidden away from all evil. Next, we begin to learn how to soar. Seated with Him in heavenly places, we will continue to undo the heavy yokes. It’s starting to get exciting! Hallelujah! We celebrate this resurrection place!
