ASEAN Smart Cities Summit & Expo & ASCN* Annual Meetings 2020, co-hosted by Vietnam’s Central Economic Commission and Ministry of Construction, will take place at National Convention Center, Me Tri, Nam Tu Liem, Hanoi. With the theme “Smart Cities - Towards community, identity and sustainable development for a cohesive and responsive ASEAN”, the event features a High-level Forum, Conference Sessions and Tech Forums on smart city development; ASCN Annual Meetings and a 2-day International Expo.

As one of the event highlights, the High-level Forum, Conference Sessions & Tech Forums promise to open up an ideal platform for visionaries to spark insights on building customized, people-centric smart cities and deliver deeper international communication to achieve smart and green growth.

Running parallel to the conferences, the International Expo will offer visitors an one-of-a-kind opportunity to take a closer look at smart city projects being deployed across the region and explore cutting-edge technologies showcased by over 50 world-class tech giants.

The event is one of the most anticipated activities to fulfill Vietnam's 2020 ASEAN Chairmanship and implement Politburo’s Resolution 52 on September 27, 2019 on a number of guidelines and policies to actively participate in the fourth Industrial Revolution (also known as Industry 4.0).

Especially, following its successful launch in Singapore and Thailand, ASEAN Smart Cities Network will come to Vietnam for its 3rd edition with 01 ASCN Mayors Roundtable & 01 ASCN Annual Meeting. Featuring a host of indepth discussions and thought-provoking debates, the two meetings will focus on exchanging smart governance tools among ASCN members; review the progress of each city’s action plan; and work towards the adoption of important documents of the network. The event expects to attract the participation of National Representatives, Chief Smart City Officers from 26 ASCN cities; guest cities from Japan, Korea, Russia, China, the US , etc., along with high-profile delegates from ASEAN external partners & other international organizations.

(*) About ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN)

Established by the ASEAN Leaders at the 32nd ASEAN Summit on 28 April 2018, ASCN (ASEAN Smart Cities Network) is a platform for cities across ASEAN to work together towards the common goal of smart and sustainable urbanisation. The network plans to meet annually to discuss progress on each city’s action plan, promote new projects and explore new opportunities with ASEAN’s external partners. The meeting was first held in Singapore in 2018 and in Thailand in 2019 for its second edition. 26 ASCN Pilot Cities include: Bandar Seri Begawan, Battambang, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Makassar, Banyuwangi, DKI Jakarta, Luang Prabang, Vientiane, Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, Yangon, Cebu City, Davao City, Manila, Singapore, Bangkok, Chonburi, Phuket, Da Nang, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City.
