Welcome LIVING IN COMMUNITY, BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

‘The mind ruled by the Spirit brings life and peace’ (Romans 8.6) ‘Those who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God’

(Romans 8.14) Jean Vanier, who died on 7 May this year, formed and inspired communities mixing people with disabilities and their helpers, and wrote a wonderful book, “Community and Growth”, published 40 years ago, in 1979. He says,

As we pray together with churches across the world “Thy Kingdom Come” at the start of June, it is important that our own views and preferences are submitted to God’s plan and purpose in our lives, and more broadly within our community. Pentecost (9th June) was when the Holy Spirit empowered the first Christian communities with a passion for God and desire to work together in creative and exciting ways. On Trinity Sunday (16th June) we are delighted to see a number of newer members of the church confirmed – with Bishop Tony a welcome guest. This is also the month that groundwork begins on our heating installation (20th June), and our new PCC has its first full meeting (17th June). As together the church commit themselves to God’s uniting agenda, this June, I hope we can all take to heart this practical advice from Jean Vanier, and welcome the Holy Spirit as we embark on new journeys, projects and plans as a church and community; welcome the Holy Spirit who ‘leads us into all truth’ (John 16.13), and ‘should control the way we live’ (Romans 8.4). We are, indeed, blessed, if we share in the freedom the Spirit brings. Revd Clive Hicks, Vicar

Thoughts from

the clergy...

Prayer Focus

PCC – For the continued work of the PCC as they seek and pray for the vacant positions of church warden to be filled.

Childcare – For the childcare team as they care for and guide our precious children on a daily basis.

CMS Mission Partner – For Azaria in her work amongst the poor and de-prived children in the Street Kids Direct project in Guatemala.

Tanzania Links with ACT Mara School – We pray for children everywhere that their lives may be enriched as they learn of each other and of you, and that out links with the children of Tanzania may remain strong.

Heating Project Fundraising & Development – We are truly thankful for the efforts of many in achieving funds to go ahead with the work of upgrading the heating in our church. We are blessed.

Work with Children, Young People & Families – Bless and guide each child and young person. We especially ask your blessing on Catherine and Marion as they begin their work with our young people. And your special blessing on Lucy for al the work she has done to nurture and care for our young families.

Prayer for individuals There is further information about prayer at the front of church along

with a tray of candles which can be lit in prayer for the needs of others. Here you will find details of who you can be

praying for and also where you can leave names and needs of those in

need of prayer. These names will be prayed through by our Monday prayer group weekly, which welcomes all new

comers.

Prayer for June Lord God, we ask your blessing on those whose faith is tried and tested, on those

whose faith is new, and we especially pray for the candidates who will be con-

firmed this month. Be with them on their journey of faith that they may find

Your presence each and every day. Amen.

Enabling Groups cover a range of areas of ministry: buildings & grounds, worship,

children, youth & families, admin & communications, events & fundraising, wider church, nurture & pastoral care.

Make It Hot- Now! Heating Project

Good news over £47,000.00 has been raised since the Appeal launch in June 2018.

We still have 3 more events planned: 8th June Quiz night – in the Centre – see poster 22nd June – Ascot afternoon – see poster 13th July – Ossett Gala – details later

The Appeal will finish at the end of July, so we would still encourage you to consider running small events yourselves, i.e. a coffee morning for neighbours etc.

Project details and specification: Contracts concluded and deposits paid! The mains gas connection and meter: This work will start on 20th June completing by 30th. This is close to the main Church entrance so access may be restricted at times. The heating installation will start on 1st July and continue for approximately 6 weeks. During this period the Church will be off limits to the public, for safety reasons, but Sunday worship will continue as normal. The gas supply trench and piping will start w/c 14th July for a period of 2/3 weeks, during this time there will be restricted access and parking around the Church with the north side drive closed off. We have cleared the South Transept but we still have to clear the South Aisle so that the electric sockets and re-plastering can be carried out before the radiators can be installed. This work has started but there is more to be done. We will be arranging work parties in June, so volunteers will be needed!!

We trust that we can count on your continued support and

prayers as we approach the installation phase of this project.

Safeguarding at Trinity

Safeguarding training for all now available online!

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and so let’s all make efforts to sure that we are equipped with the right and most up to date information to help us to help

others in need.

The Church of England have developed a new set of online safeguarding training courses which can be accessed by all. The more people we can have with the basic levels of understanding and knowledge about safeguarding the better we can be as

a community at including and welcoming all people and the better we can be at helping all people to feel safe and confident to get involved with the ministry and

mission we have.

Please access the online training via this link: https://safeguardingtraining.cofeportal.org/

You will need to first register yourself with a new account and then proceed onto the C1 course.

Further help is available with this from the core safeguarding team.

Reaffirmation of Baptismal faith The opportunity for people to reaffirm their faith and recommit themselves to their baptism and confirmation vows and declaration will be offered during the service. If you would like to know more about this ahead of the service then please speak to Lucy or Clive ahead of the day.

Our Exploration Sessions As a group we have been preparing for Baptism and Confirmation through the use of the Emmaus “Nurture” Materials, looking at our journey with faith, to where we are today and our need for God, the life and ministry of Jesus, his death and resurrection, the Holy Spirit and the Trinity, reading the bible & prayer, our life of faith and service to God, our gifts and giving and belonging to church and participation in Holy Communion. We have prayed together, shared together, grown together, laughed together and even cried together. This has been an incredible opportunity to build faith together and to walk alongside one another in love and support as we have developed and grown spiritually

with God. “I’m really going to miss meeting up as a group together” “Prayers really do get answered”

“God and faith couldn’t have come at a better time in life for me”
