Pasadena residents and visitors can get a glimpse of the City’s rich history at the

Heritage Park & Museum. With a population of more than 150,000, Pasadena is Texas’ 17th largest

city. Today, our City’s attractions include Armand Bayou Nature Center, El Jardin Beach, historic Crown Hill

Cemetery, Kemah Boardwalk, NASA’s Space Center Houston, the Port of Houston and one of the world’s largest refining and chemical manufacturing complexes. However, many people overlook one of the most important elements of Pasadena’s rich Heritage; the city is the actual birthplace of Free Texas. The final skirmishes of the Battle of San Jacinto took place at Vince’s Bridge and Crown Hill Cemetery in 1836. We have come a long way from our roots as a small agricultural outpost just over a century ago. Guests can tour the historic Pomeroy House, Strawberry (Parks) House, Miss Anna’s House and Edna’s House (Museum). Visitors will find distinctive antiques and memorabilia from the area’s first settlers in real life settings, and hear the amazing stories of perseverance and commitment that helped build Pasadena into the strong and thriving city that it is today. The Museum also has a Reading Room in Edna’s House that includes binders of historical photos, newspapers, writings, books, and many other items of historical significance that visitors can enjoy during their visit. Wrap up your visit by brown-bagging it at our picnic tables under the tall trees. If you have items of historical significance and want to share them, we have a program in which you can loan them to the Museum for a specific period for display (Deed of Loan). The Museum also appreciates the donation of historical items for permanent inclusion in its collection (Deed of Gift).

Be sure to visit the Museum Gift Shop in Edna’s House, which is managed by the Pasadena Historical Society and has many beautiful new and vintage items for sale (all sales benefit the Museum and its collections). The Museum is available on evenings and weekends for booking special occasions such as luncheons, tea parties, bridal and baby showers, birthday parties and small weddings. Catering is available upon request.

Stroll Down Memory LaneOn Saturday, April 28, the Museum will host its annual “Stroll Down Memory Lane” event at the Heritage Park & Museum grounds from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All of the houses will be open for guided tours. There will be live music, vendors, a moonwalk and much more. Those attending are encouraged to bring photos of people and places in old Pasadena, which can be shared and scanned/copied for inclusion in the Museum’s permanent archives collection.

Pasadena Historical Society Board MeetingsThe board meetings take place at the Museum at 3:00 p.m. in the dining room of Pomeroy House on the following dates in 2018: January 8, February 5, March 5, April 2, May 7, June 4, July 2, August 7, September 10, October 1, November 5 and December 3.

For more information and event times, please call: 713-472-0565.
