Dear Friends,
I am encouraging you to wear your nametags. If you are in need of a nametag or if the one you currently have has seen better days, please let Debbie in the church office know and she will be happy to make a new one for you! You can choose a clip-on nametag, or one you wear around your neck. Let us help our visitors and new members get to know who we are by wearing your nametag. We will have special surprises throughout the month for those that are wearing their name-tags! Be sure to wear yours!

Kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, make and devour yummy treats, experi-ence one-of-a-kind Bible adventures, collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them of God’s love, and test out Sciency-Fun Gizmos they’ll take home and play all summer long. Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sight-ings. Each day concludes with the Funshop Finale that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned. Family members and friends are encouraged to join in daily for this special time.

A FRIENDLY REMINDER
Anyone or any group using the Church Kitchen, is expected to clean up after themselves. Any leftover food should be labeled with the group name and date it was placed in the refrigerator. All kitchen and fellowship hall counters should be wiped clean of debris. Stoves and refrigerators need any splatters wiped up also. Please remove your group’s trash to the dumpster. Wash, dry and put away any dishes that are used. Please DO NOT Leave them in the drainer to drip dry. After washing and drying these dishes...PLEASE TAKE HOME THE LINENS THAT YOU HAVE USED AND RETURN THEM TO THE CHURCH CABINET WHERE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE!!!! Each person or group is responsible for their own laun-dry. There have been multiple towels and wash cloths left to harden and not smell their best. If everyone takes care of their own supplies, it will make it easier on everyone else.
We appreciate your help with this situation!
Thank you, The Deacons and The Women’s Association

The Great News is the Griffie Property Loan was paid off on April 4th. The Griffie Property was purchased by Venice Presbyterian Church on July 16, 2008. The property was purchased with the thought that it would serve as expan-sion space if the church were to make any additions to its primary structure in the future. The Griffie property would provide additional parking lot for displaced parking by any expansion, and also additional space for an expanded membership if that occurred. To make the land purchase, the church took out a loan for $66,000. The monthly payment was $600. This loan was renewed in 2012 for $51,000. Loan renewal again came up at the beginning of April of this year. By this time, the balance on the loan was down to $14,345. Loan renewal was going to cost almost $1000 so the Session and Trustees decided that it would be better to pay off the loan now. You may wonder where did we get $14,000+ to pay off the loan when finances have been so tight. First, a donor has faithfully been giving $2000 a year to pay towards the principal on the loan. Without this additional $2000 per year, the loan would not have been anywhere close to only $14,000 remaining on the loan. A real thanks needs to go to that donor. When this donor heard that we had the potential to pay off the loan, they gave the $2000 this year immediately. A second donor gave part of their 2018 pledge to help pay off the loan. After these two actions, $6,345 was taken from our church investments to cover the remain-der of the payoff. This is a real milestone in tough economic times to be debt free. One Great Hour of Sharing: Donations for One Great Hour of Sharing for this year were $186. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this worthy cause. Mason Young Fund: Donations to help out Kyle, Courtney, and Mason Young have now reached $1935. We are all rejoicing that Mason and everyone is doing well and the finan-cial help is appreciated by Kyle and Courtney. Kroger Rewards Program: Our most recent Kroger Rewards payment was $286.95. Thank you for everyone who buys at Kroger and has their account setup to contribute to Venice Presbyter-ian Church.

Youth Group Mission Trip
We are on a mission. I am Andrew Story, the new Youth Group Director at Venice Presbyterian. Members of our Youth Group called LOFT along with 10 adults from our church family are traveling to Beattyville, Ken-tucky on June 25 through June 30. We will be building, painting, wiring, plumbing, and just about any other house maintenance you can imagine. Lending a helping hand and heart is always welcome to the families of Beattyville. How can the community help us and be a part of this mission? A Pig Roast is being held on June 4th at the Ross High School parking lot. Enjoy some skillfully smoked pork sandwiches prepared by Tom Licata and friends, along with potatoes, coleslaw and green beans. Advance tickets may be purchased by email at [email protected]. You may also consider a financial donation to assist in the cost of materi-als online at http://www.thevenicechurch.com/mission-trip-donations-2017.html. Youth are the most important members of society. When we pour into youth, we are building our tomorrow. They will become our work force, innovators, future families, and the church. That is why I am so excited to be a part of the ministry team at Venice Presbyterian Church. The LOFT meets each Sunday at 10:30am with the church family, and break off to our youth room for activities. Once a month we have an extended event day. All youth 5th grade to young adults are welcome. Young adult men-tors are also needed on our Youth Team. If you have any questions, please send them to me at the [email protected]. I look forward to meeting the Ross community as LOFT moves ahead. On behalf of LOFT and Ven-ice Presbyterian Church, we thank you for your consideration of assis-tance for the families in Beattyville, Kentucky.
