Update from Executive Road Captain-Justen Elliott

Happy Holidays! Seems like just yesterday we were starting the riding season, now we're getting ready to carve up some tur-keys and open Christmas presents. I truly hope everyone had an enjoyable riding season, I know I'm already thinking about and making plans for 2018. I have served as Executive Road Capt. for the last two years, but have decided to step down for 2018. I again want to thank all the Road Captains, who have volunteered over the

last two years. You made my job easier and each one of you planned and executed some fantastic rides for the Chapter. Sometimes I don't think the membership realizes, how much time and effort goes into planning and leading a ride for the Chapter. So, again, thank you, and it has been my pleasure serving as your Executive Road Capt. I will be taking on the position of 'Activities Officer' for 2018. I will be looking to you the "members" for ideas. After the first of the year I will be handing out a questionnaire asking you, what would you like to do? It's the same question I asked in 2015 & 2016 when I was the Assistant Director. The Chapter belongs to you the Membership, "what do you want"? You can get as much or as little out of being a member as you want. I wish the entire slate of Chapter Officers for 2018 the best, and look forward to working with each and every one of them. UPCOMING HOLIDAY HOP / CHRISTMAS PARTY WHEN = SATURDAY Dec. 16th 2-5 PM Bowling / dinner 5 PM to ? WHERE= TWIN CITY FAMILY FUN CENTER 708 US-302, BARRE,VT 05641 The Chapter will be picking up the expense of bowling from 2-5 PM ( you need to pay for your own shoes). The chapter will also be buy-ing appetizers for each table. Dinner will be from 5 PM - ? we will be ordering off the menu, there is a Prime Rib special that night if interested please notify us as soon as possible. ***We ask that everyone bring a wrapped gift spending limit $10.00 *** we will have a "Swedish Swap" gift swap (trust me, it is lots of fun) Please email us if you plan on attending and want to order the prime rib. [email protected] Hope you all can make it this is sure to be a fun afternoon and evening with friends. Saddle up, let's ride to Twin City Family Fun Center Joyful Holidays To All, Justen

Minutes from the HOG Chapter November Social held on the 14th at Wilkins Director Brion Muzzy started our Social with greetings to all in attendance and thanks to all first responders and veter-ans, followed by a group pledge of allegiance to the flag. He also thanked all of the current officers for their work dur-ing the 2017 year. The Dealership Update was provided by Mark Frano, Wilkins Customer Experience Manager. He reported that a small group of Wilkins employees spent the night on Veterans’ Day sleeping outside as part of the ‘Homeless Veterans Awareness Campaign’, for which Wilkins raised $2000. The Wilkins Harley-Davidson Dealership will be celebrating its 70th anniversary on Saturday, Nov. 18th. The event will feature cider and sandwiches (bologna sandwiches and pb and j—because Barb used to feed customers if they were at the dealership during the lunch hour and those are what she served!). The give-away of the 2017 Street Bob will take place at 1 p.m. Then Brion told us that it is time to get the finalized slate of officers put together and voted on. Here is how it looked by the end of discussion: Director - Joel DeLary Assistant Director – Randy Lamell Treasurer – Joe Lonardo Secretary – Linda Lamell Activities Director – Justen Elliott Ladies of Harley Co- Officers – Holly Ashe and Trina DeLary Executive Road Captain – Brion Muzzy Editor – Linda Lamell Safety Officer – Thomas Moore Photographer – everyone Historian – Linda Lamell Membership Officer – Linda Lamell Webmaster – Richard Pitonyak This slate of officers was voted in. Congratulations to All! Brion reminded everyone that membership renewal time is upon us! The cost is $20 per year and we’d like to have forms completed and payment received by the end of December. Forms are available at Wilkins which can be complet-ed and left with one of the staff members (with dues payment) so I can pick it up and process it. Or print out page XX of this newsletter, fill it out and mail it (with $20 payment) to: HOG Chapter 5218 c/o Wilkins Harley-Davidson, Inc., 663 South Barre Road, Barre, VT 05641 In preparation for our Holiday gathering (to be at Twin City Family Center on Dec. 16th), we had people bring in baked goods to be auctioned off to raise funds to pay for bowling and appetizers. Eight items were auctioned off and raised $131! (See photos on the next page) Door prizes were given out. Small HOG Chapter flags were available for sale for $20 at the conclusion of the social (and more are still available).
