UNIQUE TALENTS Language Location Position Description GiGi’s Playhouse – Down Syndrome Achievement Center 8685 N Port Washington Rd. Fox Point, WI Language/Music Program Leader We are looking for a volunteer leader(s) for the following program: LMNOP (Language, Music N’ Our Peeps) – (newborn to 36 months) – LMNOP is an interactive & engaging program designed to guide parents & young children through learning basic sign language & other forms of communication using music & language based activities. Speech/ Language Therapists, early childhood teachers, music & any students working on these degrees are encouraged to apply. New Program Leaders must be available during regular business hours Monday through Friday 9am to 3pm. All tasks and work completed at GiGi’s is to support the needs of our community, families and individuals with Down syndrome (all ages). Front Desk Support (Bilingual Spanish & English)--Wednesday AfternoonCORE El Centro is a natural healing center for all levels of income offering natural healing therapies, holistic exercise classes and a garden and nutrition program.The responsibilities associated with this position include front desk clerical duties such as filing, data entry, answering phones and checking in clients. In addition to this, the role requires the volunteer to be able to interpret for patients and practitioners.

Candidates must have a strong command over the Spanish language. A language assessment must be completed prior to beginning this role. Students must also RSVP for and be able to attend an hour-long orientation on either: Monday, February 3rd @ 6 pm or Friday, February 7th @ 2 pm.

Location Position DescriptionLiFE OF HOPE 139 N. Main StreetWest Bend, WI

Peer Support Group Facilitator Three different HOPE Peer Support Groups are held monthly, the individual who facilitates the group must have a lived experience relating to the topic of the group.Use your lived experience to make a real difference in other people's lives. Be a facilitator of one or more of the three H.O.P.E Peer Support Groups at LiFE OF HOPE. We have a group for individuals experiencing active suicide ideation, another for those who have friends and family experiencing active ideation, and a third for those who have lost a loved one to suicide. These groups are held monthly at the LiFE OF HOPE Office and require that the facilitator has lived experience around the topic that the group is based, that they are QPR trained, and that they completed an online Motivational Interviewing course. LiFE OF HOPE is changing the landscape of suicide prevention through raised awareness, increased education, and peer-led support for those most at risk or closely affected by suicide ideation, attempt, and loss. Join the mission that is becoming a movement!

QPR Trainer

Participate in our education program in a unique and very emPOWERing way. This national, evidence based training teaches individuals the risk factors and behaviors for suicide and how to questions, persuade, and refer an individual in a suicidal crisis.

Required training:

- QPR Trained

- QPR Institute Instructor Training

- Co-lead 3 classes with an experience trainer

- Lead nine or more additional classes with (or without) a co-trainer (within a 6-12 month period of time)

Program Evaluation Assistant CUPH has partnered with Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers to evaluate their efforts to integrate social determinants of health screening into primary heath care and to address housing instability among Latinos in Milwaukee.

Project currently needs support conducting a network analysis of health and human service organizations in Milwaukee and gathering and analyzing quantitative/qualitative data from various stakeholders regarding the root causes of and potential strategies to address housing instability.

The timeline for these activities is January-May 2020.

This position requires a high hours commitment of approximately 10 hours per week. Spanish and English language proficiency is preferred.

Census Canvasser and Leadership Development InternSOC is a neighborhood-based organization dedicated to the development and sustainability of Milwaukee’s near south side neighborhoods. SOC works with and for residents to create a safe, livable, and economically vibrant community. SOC is committed to helping residents have a voice, vote, and vehicle act together on the issues that affect them and to make positive changes in their neighborhoods. Interns will be trained in canvassing and Leadership Development in exchanged for helping SOC reach their mission.

Interns must be present for a orientation. Internship will begin after March 16th 2019. Ideal candidates will be available night and weekends. One Saturday morning per month is required. Dates can be discussed with ideal candidates. Willing be to flexible

Girls Rock Milwaukee 270 E. Highland Ave Suite JMilwaukee, WI

Girls Rock Coordinator AssistantCoordinators work with Camp Directors to plan and staff camp. Band coaches help campers work together, compromise and encourage their new skills. Instrument instructors use general music knowledge and our curriculum to teach campers the basics on their instruments. Reception volunteers work to keep camp safe, all campers accounted for and that paperwork has been completed. Workshop volunteers lead 2 1-hour sessions with 25 campers, often connected to music, team-work, inclusivity and individuality.

Coordinators must be able to meet once a month until March, biweekly from March to June and likely once a week right before camp for final details.

Choose from two volunteer opportunities: the Aquatic Invasive Specie Cart, or Aquarium Touch Tanks.At the Aquatic Invasive Specie Cart, teach museum visitors about the negative impacts of invasive species in our Great Lakes. At Discovery World's Aquarium Touch Tanks, volunteers teach guests about Stingrays, Lake Sturgeon, Slipper Lobster, and Horseshoe Crabs, and enforce exhibit rules.

Oral History ProjectStudents will watch and annotate video recordings of oral history interviews of Jewish elders. Each recording is approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour long. Students should be able to review one to two recordings each session.

There will be lifeguards and certified swim coaches there to instruct, so the volunteer's role would be to be in the water helping athletes that need additional attention with stroke development.
