UW RETIREES A DISTINCT UW CONSTITUENCY
Retirees: A Growing Resource
The annual number of retirements across all UW campuses has almost doubled in ten years.
Active In Service
Of the 600+ respondents to a 2017 UW retiree survey, more than 50% indicated that they are active volunteers in their communities or at the UW.
Survey highlights:
• Over 50% of UW retiree respondents participate in community volunteer activities
• 26% of respondents volunteer somewhere at the UW, including in faculty governance councils, on committees and in other board and support roles that contribute to the UW’s mission
Retirees also come back to post-retirement UW employment in research, teaching or other roles, bringing their years of experience and networks of contacts back to the UW.
