Getting Started in StudentUWinsite Student is the University of Windsor’s student information platform.

UWinsite Student Navigation Tips• UWinsiteStudentworksbestintheGoogleChromebrowser.

• UWinsiteStudentisaweb-basedapplicationaccessedwithinanInternetbrowser.RemembertouseUWinsiteStudent’snavigationcontrols,notyourbrowser’sbackbutton.

• UWinsiteStudentislargelymobilefriendly,dynamicallyadaptingaccordingtothesizeofthebrowserwindowondeviceslikesmartphones,tablets,laptopsordesktops. It is recommended, however, to use a laptop or desktop computer for registration.

Sign in to UWinsite Student1. Inyourwebbrowser,preferablyGoogleChrome,goto

www.uwindsor.ca/uwinsitestudent.

2.ClicktheSIGN IN TO UWINSITE STUDENTbutton.

3.OntheSign in screen,enter(orselect)yourUWinID@uwindsor.ca(includingthe“@uwindsor.ca”part).ClicktheNextbutton.

4.OntheEnter passwordscreen,enteryourUWin Account password.ClicktheSign inbutton.

Set Up Your ProfileWhenyousignintoUWinsite StudentyouwillseetheStudent Homepage.Thisisthedefaulthomepageforallcurrentstudents.

Togetstartedinthesystem,itisimportanttosetupyourprofileandensureyourpersonalinformationiscorrect.Tovalidateand/orupdateyourpersonalinformation:

1.OntheStudent Homepage,clicktheProfile tile.

2.Vieworchangeyourpersonalinformationthroughthefollowingtabsintheleftnavigationmenu:

•ContactDetails•Addresses•EmergencyContacts•PersonalDetails•PersonalIdentificationNumber

3.ClickSaveifyoumakeanychangestoyourpersonalinformation.

Note: If you wish to receive a T2202 (Tuition and Enrolment Certificate) – which is the tuition tax credit form – from UWindsor, you must provide your Social Insurance Number (SIN) in UWinsite Student under Profile > Personal Details.

Share My Information Ifyouwishtograntaccesstoyouracademicand/orfinancialaccountstoafamilymemberorsponsor,youwillneedtoprovideauthorizationinUWinsiteStudent.Toshareyourinformation:

1.OntheStudent Homepage,clicktheProfiletile.

2.ClicktheShare My Informationtabintheleftnavigationmenu.

3.Click Delegate Access To A New Contact.

4.ReadtheTermsandConditions.Ifyouagree,clickI Accept.

5.OntheShare My Information - Detailspage,entertherequiredinformationabouttheindividualtowhomyouaredelegatingaccess.Identifythetype(s)ofinformationyouaredelegatingaccesstobyusingthecheckboxesnexttoeachrowinthetable.

6.ClicktheSave button.

Registration FundamentalsUniversity Academic CalendarsTheAcademicCalendarsareacomprehensiveguidetoallundergraduateandgraduateprogramsandcoursesavailableattheUniversityofWindsor.Theyoutlinetheacademicregulationsandstandards,programdegreerequirements,andgeneralUniversitypoliciesforallundergraduateandgraduateprograms(withtheexceptionofLaw).

Manage ClassesToplanyourcoursesandregisterinclassesinUWinsite Student,youwillusetheManage ClassestileontheStudentHomepage.

Shopping CartTheShoppingCartfunctionslikeaplannerinUWinsiteStudent.ItisfoundundertheManage Classestile.

TheShoppingCartallowsyoutoplanandviewallofyourclassespriortoyourregistrationappointmenttime.Itisimportanttonote,however,that you are not enrolled in the classes in your Shopping Cart.

InyourShoppingCartyouhavetheoptiontoValidateyourclassesagainstyouracademicplan,Delete coursesyounolongerwishtotakepriortoenrolment,and/or Enrolinmultipleclassesatonetime,onceyourregistrationappointmentopens.

Final Exam ScheduleConsistentwithexamschedulingpracticesatotherCanadianuniversities,UWindsorreleasesitsfinalexamscheduleafterthesemesterisunderway.Thistimelineisdesignedtoreducethenumberofconflictsintheexamschedule.Asaresult,your final exam dates will not be known when you register for your classes.Finalexamdatesandtimeswillthereforenotbeincludedinyourcourseoutlinesatthestartofthesemester.Tofindoutwhenfinalexamschedulesareposted,pleaseread this ask.UWindsor article.

ThedatesforfinalexamperiodsarepostedontheOfficeoftheRegistrar’swebsite.Youmustbeavailablefortheentirefinal exam periodforthesession/semesterinwhichyouareenrolled.

Planning Your Classes in UWinsite StudentYoucanstartplanningyourclassesandaddingthemtoyourShoppingCartinUWinsiteStudentwhenthevalidationperiodopens.ThevalidationperiodiswhenthetimetableforthenextsemesterisclosetofinalandthecoursesbeingofferedarevisibleinUWinsiteStudent.Typically,thevalidationperiodstartstwotothreeweeksbeforeregistrationbegins.

ThepreferredmethodforplacingyourclassesintotheShopping Cart isthroughClass Search and Enrol.Thismethodshowsyoujustthecoursesthatareofferedduringthetermforwhichyouareplanning.

selected.Someclasseshaveonesectionwhileothershavemultiplesections.Under Class Selection,youcanviewthetime,date,instructor,locationandavailableseatsforeachsectionoftheclass.

7.Selectaclasssection.YoucanclickanywhereontheclassexceptfortheLectureorLablinktoselectit.

8.You’llnowbedirectedtotheconfirmationprocess:•ReviewClass SelectionandclickNext. •ReviewClass Preferences.

oThisiswhereyouhavetheoptiontoaddyourselftothewaitlistiftheclassisfull.SelectYesifthiswillnotputyouincourseoverload(normally5classes,butcheckyourprogram).

oSelectNoifhavingthiscourseonthewaitlistwouldputyouincourseoverload.YouwillinsteadneedtouseSwap ClassessoUWinsiteStudentknowswhatcoursetodropifyouaretoreachthetopofthewaitlist.(SeetheSwapClassessectiononpage 9formoreinformation.)

oClickAccept.•OntheEnrolorAdd to Cartpage,clicktheAdd to Shopping Cart radiobuttonand

thenclick Next.•Onthe Review and Submitpage,reviewyourselectionsandthenclickSubmit.•Aconfirmationpop-upwindowwillask“Areyousureyouwantto

submit?”ClickYes unlessyouwishtomakeachangeinwhichcaseclickNo.ThenclickExitinthetopleftcornerofthepage.

You’llneedtorepeattheclasssearchandenrolprocessforyourotherclasses.

We also recommend that you add one or two extra classes to your Shopping Cart in case one of your preferred classes is full when you register. This is particularly important if you plan to register in a full course load. Having one or more extra classes in your Shopping Cart at the time of registration makes it easier to waitlist a course using Swap Classes.

It is important to note that you are NOT registered in any classes at this point! All you have done so far is add classes to your Shopping Cart. The next step is to validate your class selections.

Validating Your Classes in UWinsite StudentValidatingyourclassesallowsyoutoseeifacoursefitsintoyouracademicplan–thatisitfulfillsadegreerequirement.Italsoletsyoudetermineifthereareanytimeorpre-requisiteconflicts.

Tovalidateyourclasses:

1.OntheStudent Homepage,clicktheManage Classestile.2.ClicktheShopping Carttabintheleftnavigationmenu.3.ClicktheradiobuttonbesideeachclassinyourShoppingCart.4.ClicktheValidatebutton.

•Agreen check markmeansthattheclassisvalid.•A red X meanstheclassisnotvalid.Aclassmaynotbevalidforavarietyof

reasons.Forexample:oTheremaybeatimeconflictwithanotherclassinyourShoppingCart,oTheclassmayrequireinstructorpermission,oroYoumaynotmeetthepre-requisiterequirement.

Ifanyofyourclassesarenotvalid,youshoulddeletetheclassfromyourShoppingCartandselectadifferentclassusingClassSearchandEnrol.Alternatively,youcanleavetheclassinyourShoppingCartandseektheappropriatepermissionneededtoenrolinit.

Again,pleasenotethatyouarestillNOTregisteredinanyclassesyet!

Registering for Your Classes in UWinsite StudentRegistrationatUWindsorisbyappointmenttime.Registrationappointmenttimesareassignedbasedonprogramandlevelofstudy.Yourregistrationappointmenttimeiswhenyoucanstarttoregister.Itisimportanttoregisterearlytohaveabetterchanceofgettingintotheclassesthatyouwanttotake.Registrationdoes,however,remainopenuntilthetenthdayofclassessoyoumaymakechangestoyourcoursessolongasthereisspace.

Onceregistrationappointmenttimesareassignedforaterm,youcanfindyoursunderMy Academics > Enrolment Deadlines.YourregistrationappointmenttimewillalsobesenttoyourUWindsoremailaccount.

Whenyourregistrationappointmenttimeopens:

4.Thereareseveralreasonswhyyoumightnotbesuccessfullyenrolledinaclass:•Theclassisfull.•Enrolmentintheclassisrestrictedforvariousreasons.Forexample:itisreserved

forstudentsinparticularmajorsorlevelsofstudy.•Youmaybemissingaprerequisite(thisshouldnotbethecaseIFyouvalidated

yourclasses).

Swap ClassesIfoneofyourpreferredclassesisfull,youcanaddyourselftothewaitlistusingSwap Classes.

1.Tostart,enrolinoneoftheextraorback-upclassesinyourShopping Cart.2.ClickSwap Classes.Thisfunctionaddsyoutothewaitlistofyourpreferredclassand

tellsUWinsiteStudentwhichclasstodropshouldyoumovetothetopofthewaitlist.3.Selectyourextraorback-upclassfromyourschedulefromtheSwap This Class

5.Reviewyourclassselection.ClicktheNextbutton.6.Reviewtheclasspreferences.SelecttheYesoptiontobeaddedtothewaitlist.

Clickthe Acceptbutton.7.Confirmtheclassswap.ClicktheSubmit button.

Acoupleofthingstorememberaboutwaitlistedclasses:

•Justbecauseyouareonawaitlistdoesnotmeanyouareguaranteedtogetintotheclass.

•Evenifyouarethefirstonthelist,youmightnotbethefirsttoenrol.Enrolmentdependsonyourprogramrequirements.Readandunderstandthemwell.

•Youcannotputyournameonthewaitinglistifyoudonothavetheprerequisitesforthecourseorifthespotsarereservedforaspecificprogram.

You are now registered in your classes!Acoupleofimportantreminders:

•Youcanaddaclassupuntilthelastdayforlateregistrationwhichisthetenthdayofclasses.

•Youcanalsoswitchaclassupuntilthelastdayforlateregistration–usetheSwapClassfunctiontodoso.
