The competitions for Bharathanatyam, Mohiniyattam and

Thiruvathira Kali will be held on 29th July, 2018 as a separate

event, namely 'K. Madhavan Nair Memorial Annual Dance

Competitions'.

These annual events are dedicated to the sacred memory of Dr.

K.P. Ittaman and K. Madhavan Nair as a tribute to their dedicated

services to the cause of Arsha Dharma Parishad.

Dance Competitions

1. All events will be held age group-wise as shown separately in paragraph 9.

Completed years of age will be reckoned as on 01.07.2018.

2. Documentary evidence in support of date of birth of the applicant is

required to be attached to the application.

3. Applicants can participate in all the events. However, separate application

form is required for each event.

4. The participation fee for each event is ` 50/-, except for Thiruvathira Kali,

which is ̀ 500/- per group.

5. Completed application forms along with entry fee shall reach the Temple

Office latest by 8.30 am on 27th June, 2018. Entries received after the cut

off time will not be considered under any circumstances.

7. Performances of the participants will be assessed by a panel of Judges. The

Judges hold the right to disqualify any performance without assigning any

reason and the decision of the Judges shall be final. No appeal on the

decision of the Judges will be entertained.

8. The Competition schedules will be adhered to strictly.

9. The Competitions will be held in the following age-groups.

I 5–6 Years

II 7–8 Years

III 9–11 Years

IV 12–14 Years

V 15–18 Years

VI 19 Years & above

10. The Executive Committee holds the right to cancel an event in a particular

age-group, if it is found that the number of participants is less than 4 in that

age-group.

Group Age Duration (Maximum)

For Light Devotional Music Competitions, the songs should fall under the

category ‘Light Music’. Songs which fall under semi-classical/classical

though devotional will be disqualified.

Participants in the Carnatic Music Competitions are required to use

‘Shrutipetti’. No other accompaniments will be permitted. However,

'Shrutipetti' is not mandatory for participants in the age-group of I & II.

Participants in the age-group of I, II & III are required to render a Kriti of any

renowned composer within the allotted time. Participants in the age-group of

IV & V are required to render a Kriti along with Raga alapana and Swara

prastara within the allotted time.

Thiruvathira Kali Competition from 3.30 pm onwards on Sunday 29th July, 2018

1. A team should consist of 8 to 12 members only.

2. Ganapathy, Saraswathy, Padam, Kummi, and Mangalam

are mandatory for each team. Kurathi and Vanchippattu can

also be performed within the stipulated time. Traditional

Thiruvathira Pattu only is permitted. Film/similar songs are

not permitted.

3. Traditional Thiruvathira dress (Mundu + Neryethu)

.

4. Minimum make-up to be used (Pottu, Chandanam and

Flowers mandatory). Hair to be tied up. Dress and make-up to

be uniform for the entire team.

5. Traditional Thiruvathira Kali steps to be performed.

( Other classical dance forms like Mohiniyattam or any other

dance steps not be used).

3. Participation of minimum three teams is mandatory for
