• Tells to whom or for whom an action is performed.
• “SE” refers to the third person or plural
EJEMPLOS
• I donate a book to the library.
• Yo dono un libro a la biblioteca.
• I donate it to them.
• Yo se lo dono.
PASSIVE SE
• The reflexive verb is one that takes the subject as an object herself, himself, itself, themselves, third person, plural, & singular.

RECIPROCAL ‘SE’
• The action when two people do the same thing towards each other.

• Juan and Maria say hello to each other.
• Juan y Maria se saludan.

IMPERSONAL ‘SE’
• To say that people in general do a certain thing, use ‘se’ + the ud. el, ella, or uds, ellos ellas form of the verb.

PASSIVE ‘SE’
• The object of the action voice becomes the subject of the passive construction, and the person who is doing the action is not considered important.

• A forest is seen from my window.
• Se ve un bosque desde mi ventana.
• Interesting books are written.
• Se escriban libros interesantes.
‘NO FAULT’ OR ACCIDENTAL ‘SE’
• It wasn’t me who did the action, therefore it wasn’t intended to happen, object becomes subject while “I” becomes an indirect onject.

• Se me caen las llaves.
• I lost my jacket. (unintentionally)
