THE FIVE WS FOR USING MOODLE• This session will cover the 5 W's for using the

Moodle Online Learning Management System as one alternative to create engaging online digital learning courses for students or for teacher professional development.

WHAT IS MOODLE?• Moodle is a free – open source learning. There

are no licenses.

• Online Learning Management system (LMS)

• Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

WHY USE MOODLE?• Georgia Senate Bill 289 Digital Learning Act requires school

systems beginning in 2013-2014, to give every 3 rd-12th grade student the opportunity to enroll in part and/or full-time virtual instruction.

• Senate Bill 289 all requires all 9 th grade students to take at least one online course before graduation beginning in 2014-2015. The bill would also require schools to give all end-of-course assessments online starting in 2015.

• Ease of access and use for students and instructors.

• Great to use with BYLD (BYOT)

• Flipped classroom

• 50,000 Learning communities in 200 countries in almost 80 languages

• Our district has been using Moodle since 2007.

• All of our high schools and four middle schools are using Moodle.

• Professional Development courses for our teachers.

EVALUATION
