TheNetComm3G29WNgivesyoutheoptiontoplugdirectlyintoanADSLserviceorconnectwith3Gbyinsertinga3GSIMcardtodeliverInternet.Thechoiceisyours.BothmethodswillallowyoutoshareyourInternetconnectionamongstmultipleuserswitheitherthe4LANportsforwiredconnectionsorviahigh-speedWirelessN.
The3G29WNalsoallowsforaHSPA+/3GMobileBroadbandconnection(providedbyaSIMcard)toactasabackupInternetconnectiontoyourfixedlineservice,providingautomaticInternetfailoverto3GintheeventthattheADSLservicefails.Shouldyouhaveaccesstobothconnectionmethods,the3G29WNwillensureyouare“alwayson”whichisvitaltosomeindividualsandbusinessthatperformInternetbasedcriticaloperations.
TheUSBportisabletobeusedforthepurposeofprintingandamassstorageserver.BysimplyplugginginaUSBprinteroraUSBharddrivetotherouter,thefunctionalityoftheseproductswillbeabletobesharedwitheveryoneconnectedtothe3G29WN.
The3G29WNfeaturesthelateststandardsofwirelesssecurityenabledbydefaultoneachrouter.AnadvancedfirewallandVPNpass-throughfunctionalityallowsformaximumsecurityandcatersfortheencryptedPoint-to-Pointcommunicationsfromconnectedcomputersthroughthe3G29WNtoaVPNServer.

PlacementofyourDualADSL2+/3GGatewayWhen Connecting With 3GJustlikeyourmobilephone,thelocationofthe3G29WNwillaffectitssignalstrengthtoa3GMobileBaseStation(CellTower).Thedataspeedachievableisrelativetothissignalstrength,whichisaffectedbymanyenvironmentalfactors.Pleasekeepinmindthatthe3G29WNwillneedadequatesignalstrengthinordertoprovideInternetconnectivitywhilstchoosingalocationtoplaceyourRouter.
Similarlytothe3Gconnection,thewirelessconnectionbetweentheRouterandyourWiFideviceswillbestrongerthecloseryourconnecteddevicesaretoyourRouter.YourwirelessconnectionandperformancewilldegradeasthedistancebetweenyourRouterandconnecteddevicesincreases.Thismayormaynotbenoticeable,andisgreatlyaffectedbytheindividualinstallationenvironment.
Ifyouhaveconcernsaboutyournetwork’sperformancethatmightberelatedtorangeorobstructionfactors,trymovingthecomputertoapositionbetweenthreetofivemetersfromtheRouterinordertoseeifdistanceistheproblem.Ifdifficultiespersistevenatcloserange,pleasecontactNetCommTechnicalSupport.Note: Whilesomeoftheitemslistedbelowcanaffectnetworkperformance,theywillnotprohibityourwirelessnetworkfromfunctioning;ifyouareconcernedthatyour

Router placement• PlaceyourRouterascloseaspossibletothecentreofyourwirelessnetworkdevicestoachievethebestwirelessnetwork
coverageforallyour“wirelessclients”(i.e.,computerswithbuiltinorUSBWirelessAdapters,LaptopswithBuilt-inWireless,WirelessPDA/iPhone,etc)
• EnsurethatyourRouter’santennasareparalleltoeachother,andarepositionedvertically(towardtheceiling).IfyourRouteritselfispositionedvertically,pointtheantennasinanupwarddirectionasmuchaspossible.
• Inmulti-storeyhomes,placetheRouteronafloorthatisasclosetothecentreofthehomeaspossible.ThismaymeanplacingtheRouteronanupperfloor.
• TrynottoplacetheRouternearacordlesstelephonethatoperatesatthesameradiofrequencyasthe3G29WN(2.4GHz).
Avoid obstacles and interference• AvoidplacingyourRouterneardevicesthatmayemitradio“noise,”suchasmicrowaveovens.Denseobjectsthatcaninhibit
wirelesscommunicationinclude:

Cordless phonesIftheperformanceofyourwirelessnetworkisimpairedafterconsideringtheaboveissues,andyouhaveacordlessphone:
• TrymovingcordlessphonesawayfromyourRouterandyourwireless-enabledcomputers.
• Unplugandremovethebatteryfromanycordlessphonethatoperatesonthe2.4GHzband(checkmanufacturer’sinformation).Ifthisfixestheproblem,yourphonemaybeinterferingwiththeWi-FiRouter.
• Ifyourphonesupportschannelselection,changethechannelonthephonetothefarthestchannelfromyourwirelessnetwork.Forexample,changethephonetochannel1andmoveyourRoutertochannel11.Seeyourphonesusermanualfordetailedinstructions.
• Ifnecessary,considerswitchingtoa900MHzor5GHzcordlessphone.
Choose the “quietest” channel for your wireless networkInlocationswherehomesorofficesareclosetogether,suchasapartmentbuildingsorofficecomplexes,theremaybewirelessnetworksnearbythatcanconflictwithyourwirelessnetwork.
