What Is Crowdfunding?Crowdfunding is a method of raising money in small
amounts from a large group of people using the Internet, social media and other forms of
communications available for people in 21 century.
The largest rewards platform Kickstarter: Almost $2.5 Billion pledged by more than 11 Million people
The largest donations platform GoFundMe:$2 Billion raised in 2015, an avg. $4 Million per day!
This project was initially funded on Kickstarter and now available on Indiegogo InDemand
Animal Crowdfunding GoFundMe projects in Animal category have
raised more than $42 Million. Top 10 non-profit animal organizations on Razoo
have raised almost 10,2 Million. YouCaring hosted 14,000 animal projects in
2015. They raised over $12 Million. Top 10 projects for pet
products on Kickstarter and Indiegogo have raised $4,6 Million.

Potential Problems High failure rate (91% on Indiegogo, for example). For product based campaigns – the product
doesn’t exist. For personal funding campaigns – fraud. Can hurt your reputation, if the creators fail to
deliver the rewards.
How to Differentiate a Good Campaign from a Bad One
Transparency – information available online and on their project page.
Communications – do they respond to comments and questions, do their answers look reasonable?
For product based campaigns – reward prices, delivery time, creators’ expertise. Importance of the first days.

2015: Only 9% of the projects in Animals category on Indiegogo reached
their funding goal. They raised an average $5,585.
