• Destroying the Trail– Most of the trail was
through the jungles and forests of Laos and Cambodia• US started spraying the
trees to kill the plants so they could see the ground
• Other Air Weapons– Napalm– Cluster Bombs– Carpet Bombing

![Page 5: US Support and the Turning Point of Vietnam Chapter 19, Section 2 & 3](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022062718/56649e675503460f94b624c7/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
• This didn’t work– Supplies continued to
get to the Vietcong– Soviet Union and China
helping the North– Bombing increased in
the North, Laos, Cambodia, and South• This caused South
Vietnamese to join the Vietcong
![Page 6: US Support and the Turning Point of Vietnam Chapter 19, Section 2 & 3](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022062718/56649e675503460f94b624c7/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)

• Not Everyone Fought– Many Americans were
engineers, doctors, transportation
– Just because they didn’t have to fight doesn’t mean they were safe
– Women were there too
![Page 9: US Support and the Turning Point of Vietnam Chapter 19, Section 2 & 3](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022062718/56649e675503460f94b624c7/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
