How did Lincolns view on slavery change over the course of

the Civil War?

A. Lincoln’s view of slavery changed over the course of

the Civil War.

a. At the beginning of the war, Lincoln believed

that slavery was not the main issue of the

war.

b. By the end, Lincoln had come to believe that

is was the defining issue of the war.

B. When the war broke out, Lincoln was more

concerned with keeping the United States together.
