RAIL INFRASTRUCTURE ALLIANCE

UPCOMING WORKSWEST FOOTSCRAY STATIONONGOING – LATE MAY 2020 Major construction is continuing along the Sunbury rail corridor in preparation for the Metro Tunnel. This notification provides an update on current and upcoming works at West Footscray station.

What we are doing

Platform construction • Asphalting the new platform surface and

installing bins, seats, line marking and tactiles

• Installing perforated screens and handrails on the new platform ramp.

Concourse construction• Installing the new concourse ceiling, lighting,

handrails and Myki systems

• Installing a lift to service the new platform. Current works include lift fitout, testing and commissioning.

Track construction• Excavating within the rail corridor and building

new track foundations with soil and ballast (crushed rock)

• Delivering and installing track that will service the new platform at West Footscray station.

When

Platform and concourse construction • Ongoing until late July 2020

• 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday

• 7am to 1pm, Saturdays.

Track construction• Wednesday 22 April until early May 2020

• 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday

• 7am to 1pm, Saturdays.

What to be aware of• These works are expected to produce medium

levels of noise and low levels of vibration

• To allow the safe completion of concourse works, a 2.5m wide section of the pedestrian overpass at West Footscray station has been temporarily closed until July 2020

• Access to the overpass will remain open at all times. Cyclists and pedestrians are encouraged to move through the narrowed overpass area slowly during busy times

• Excess material from construction activities will be transported to a site compound on the corner of Rupert and Ashley streets, Braybrook

• Traffic controllers will be present at times to assist construction vehicle access, pedestrians and cyclist movements around construction sites.

We have strict protocols in place to protect the safety of our construction workforce, including enhanced industrial cleaning arrangements, provision of personal protective equipment and measures to reduce staff contact, including staggered shifts.
