I want people to know that we do more than just have lunch meet- ings. I would love to list out every- thing that I’m excited about, but that would be too long. So let me share a few highlights. Right out the gate this year we have our annual golf tournament. The Committee, led by Scott Gain- er, has been working together for months to make sure we have a great and fun event that is well at- tended. Last I heard, we have over 100 golfers committed, and close to $40k dollars in sponsorship money. I encourage all members (playing or not) to come out and enjoy the festivities on Friday, Sept. 22; come out to volunteer, or have lunch and some drinks. We are also working on getting students to attend, help- ing out, and networking with our members. Speaking of our students, we are emphasizing student activities this year. As a group we are pulling together behind the leadership of Dustin Russell to increase our pres- ence as a professional group at Fresno State and Fresno City Col- lege. Dustin will be reaching out to all members throughout the year, even YOU, to help with this out- reach effort. Please make it your goal to join us at least one time this year as we reach out to interested youth. The next event is the CSUF LCOE Welcome Back BBQ on Thursday, September 14. Let's start off the year well and make a good showing out there. For more details, please contact Dustin at [email protected]. I believe that YEA is our future! “Teach them well and let them lead the way”! Ok, I’m quoting from a Whitney Houston song (The Greatest Love of All), but what I find great about the line is, “Teach them.” I believe we are those teachers and it's important that long-time members of our chapter mentor our YEA. For this year, we are planning a lot of YEA events, both on large and small scales, and know that YEA activi- ties doesn’t exclude members older than 35—we include everyone in YEA events because it's important we be there to teach. I would like to thank Landon Reda Lan- [email protected] for taking the YEA leadership role this year. Please reach out to him with your ideas, comments or questions. Another important thing I am excit- ed about is the leadership team that I get to work with this year. I would like to thank past-President Allyn Troisi for recruiting and set- ting the table for this year. We have a wonderful mix of experience and ideas, and together we have great potential to make ASHRAE more visible in our community and have fun doing it. This is going to be a fun year to be a part of ASHRAE. The Officers and I are determined to make ASHRAE more visible in our com-munity in more ways than one.
