• Established: May 18th. 1970, opened it’s doors in Lembah Pantai Kuala Lumpur and moved to Bangi Campus in Oct 1977

• The first batch from 3 faculties: Science, Arts and Islamic Studies. of 190 undergraduates and 1 post-graduates

• 1974 , UKM set up a SABAH campus in Kebun Kawang, Papar for faculty of Science and Natural Resources. 1980 : move to Bukit Padang, Kota Kinabalu and 1990 relocated to Menggatal, Tuaran in 1990.

• With the formation of University Malaysia Sabah in 1994, UKM’s Sabah campus was officially closed in 1996.

• Currently: 13 faculties, a Graduate School of Business (GSB-UKM), and 16 research institutes of excellence in education.

• Have 3 main Campus : Bangi Campus (main Campus), Cheras Campus : University Hospital and Medical School and Kuala Lumpue Campus: Medical Allied Science

• 19th July 1999, FST was established : consolidation of the four science based faculties, Faculty of Physical and Applied Sciences, Faculty of Life Sciences, Faculty of Mathematical Sciences and Faculty of Natural Resource Sciences.

• FST consists of five Schools of studies : School of Biosciences and Biotechnology – 7 programs School of Applied Physics- 3 programs School of Chemical Sciences and Food Technology- 5 programs School of Mathematical Sciences- 3 programsSchool of Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences- 20 programs
