UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSASThe University of Arkansas is a place where dedicated and creative people are building a better world. To us, this is just what it means to be a RAZORBACK.

NATIONALLY COMPETITIVEEach year, University of Arkansas students win national scholarships that support their academic and career goals. Samia Ismail, an honors biomedical engineering student, was named a 2019 Harry S. Truman Scholar, one of 62 in the nation. Committed to a lifetime of public service, she plans to improve healthcare access for Arkansans.

U of A honors agricultural business alumna Victoria Maloch was awarded a 2018 Marshall Scholarship that provides funding for graduate study in the United Kingdom. She is pursuing a master’s degree in comparative social policy at Oxford University.

Learn more about the U of A’s history of nationally competitive awards at awards.uark.edu.

STUDENT CENTEREDStudy abroad is an important part of the college experience for many students, and the U of A offers support and advice every step of the way. Sabrina Rivas received a Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship to study graphic design and art history in Rome, Italy. An art education major, she will draw upon her experience abroad in her future classroom as an art teacher.

Learn more about opportunities to study abroad at studyabroad.uark.edu.

RESEARCH UNIVERSITYFor honors mathematics and physics major Tyler Bishop, the University of Arkansas has opened the doors to the world of scientific research. Working under associate professor Salvador Barraza-Lopez, he has performed research that could have applications in the engineering and manufacturing of nanoscale devices. In 2019 he was named a Barry Goldwater Scholar, the nation’s highest honor for undergraduate students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics preparing for doctoral studies and research careers in their fields.

STUDENT L IFELiving on campus provides an opportunity for students to extend their learning experiences beyond the classroom, library, and laboratory.

University Housing strives to create a community. More than just a place to sleep, residence halls at the U of A provide space to live, learn, and develop lifelong friendships. Consider being part of a Living Learning Community (LLC), a small group of students who live together, share an interest, and have access to special programs designed for the LLC.

For more information about living on campus, visit housing.uark.edu.

The U of A offers a variety of meal plans from Campus Dining with a mix of dietary options prepared by skilled chefs and dedicated staff. Choose to eat at “all-you-care-to-eat” dining halls or at the food court in the Arkansas Union. Grab a quick snack at one of several campus convenience stores or coffee shops, or visit one of the many restaurants on campus.

For more information about dining on campus, visit housing.uark.edu/dining.

The Center for Learning and Student Success (CLASS+) works with students to refine and strengthen academic skills like note taking, reading, study habits, and time management, all necessary for success at the University of Arkansas, while the Career Development Center helps U of A students discover their interests, values, and skills, and prepares them to start a career after graduation.

For more information visit class.uark.edu or career.uark.edu/cdc.

The four-story Health, Physical Education, and Recreation building (HPER), a part of University Recreation (UREC), provides students with access to an Olympic-sized swimming pool, an indoor track, workout and weight room, climbing walls, four gymnasiums, bike shop, and much more. UREC also facilitates club sport teams who compete against other collegiate club teams.

For more information about club sports and recreation on campus, visit urec.uark.edu.
