The University of Sydney is
strengthening its partnership
with the Westmead precinct. The
announcement of a $60m investment
at Westmead will provide for new
education facilities, upgrades to
existing spaces, and a suite of new
academic programs and initiatives.
These facilities and programs will be
delivered in partnership with
Westmead Hospital, The Children’s
Hospital at Westmead, and the
research institutes at the Westmead
precinct.
This investment is the first instalment
of the University of Sydney’s
commitment to invest $500m into
Westmead for infrastructure and
programs over the next 15 years. This
will see the number of students at the
campus quadruple to more than
6,000 students.
This investment in the precinct will
enhance the already active
interdisciplinary collaborations
between healthcare, research and
education at Westmead. Patients,
clinicians, researchers and other
innovators are continuing to build on
the culture of innovation and
knowledge sharing at Westmead.
The new contemporary, flexible
technology-enabled teaching,
learning and work spaces will be
equivalent to the best in the world.
It will also expand the expertise and
educational activities available on the
precinct to engineering, physics,
business management, the social
sciences and others.
