Applicants with ‘A’ level results which are more than five (5) years old should apply as mature candidates.

Mature Applicantsi. Must be at least, 25 years by August 1, 2018.ii Should have a minimum of SSSCE / WASSCE

Certificate / DBS / RSA certificate iii. Must pass the UEW entrance examination Post-Diploma Applicantsi. Must possess a Higher National Diploma or its

equivalence from relevant field of study in a recognised institution.

ii. The class obtained should be at least, a Second Class Lower Division or its equivalence to qualify for placement at Level 200 or 300.

iii. May be required to pass an interview. Forward a copy of your transcript(s) to us,

please.

2. DIPLOMA PROGRAMMESA. Two-Year Diploma Programmes i. WASSCE with passes (A1-D7) in three (3) Core

subjects: English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science/Social Studies, plus Credits (A1-C6) in three (3) relevant elective subjects. OR SSSCE with Credits (A - D) in three (3) Core subjects: English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science/Social Studies and three (3) relevant elective subjects.

ii. GCE ‘O’ Level with Credits (Grade 6) in five (5) subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and a Science subject.

iii. A Distinction or Credit in an accredited Certificate programme

iv Mature Applicants must be at least 25 years, with WASSCE/SSSCE/GCE Certificate, and must pass UEW Entrance Examination.

B. One-Year Diploma In Education Programmei. A Bachelor’s degree, Diploma, or Advanced Handicraft

Certificate in a relevant programme from an accredited Tertiary Institution.

People with higher qualifications can apply.

DEFINITIONSDirect applicantsDirect applicants are selected on the strength of their senior high school results. Direct applicants usually do not write entrance examinations and/or interview except for programmes whose entry requirements so demand.

Mature ApplicantsMature applicants are those required to pass the university’s entrance examinations before selection. They cannot obtain admission directly with their school certificates unless they pass the UEW entrance examinations.

Post-Diploma ApplicantsPost-diploma applicants are those who have Higher National Diplomas (HND), Teacher’s Diploma or a equivalence Certificate and seek to upgrade their qualification in their previous areas or fields of study.Post-diploma applicants often go through interviews before selection.

Minimum University RequirementsThese are the basic requirements to be satisfied to qualify for admission into the University. These, together with other programme specific requirements must be met.

1. BACHELOR DEGREE PROGRAMMESDirect ApplicantsA. SSSCE/WASSCE Certificate Holders:

i. Must have at least, six (6) WASSCE credit passes (A1-C6) including three (3) core subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Science or Social Studies as well as three (3) electives in relevant subjects with a total aggregate of 36 or better, OR

ii. Must have at least, six (6) SSSCE credit passes (A-D) including three (3) core subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies as well as three (3) electives in relevant subjects with a total aggregate of 24 or better

iii. Must satisfy The Programme Specific Requirement(s) for the Programme(s) chosen. (visit uew.edu.gh)

B. School Certificate/GCE holders

Five (5) credits at GCE “O” Level including English Language andMathematics as well as two (2) “A” Level passes other than general paper in relevant subjects.

How to Apply1. There are three application options: Post-Diploma,

Direct and Mature. Obtain an appropriate Application Voucher from any of the following Banks/Sources: GCB Bank, HFC Bank, Agric. Development Bank (ADB), Zenith Bank, Unibank, Fidelity Bank, and VISA Credit/Debit Card. International Students should use VISA card.

2. Visit the University’s website at www.uew.edu.gh. Click on Admissions, and select Apply Online >>>. Log in with your Voucher Serial Number and PIN.

3. Choose an appropriate application form and complete it. Complete the personal data section and proceed to the Results and Programme Selection sections. Upload all relevant attachments.

4. Check the declaration and submit. (Before you submit the application ensure that the information provided, especially names, postal address, choice of programme, etc., are correct because after submitting the application no corrections can be made).

5. Print a copy of your completed application form for reference purposes.

NotesA. Fee-Paying Applicants

A fee-paying facility is available to ghanaian applicants who do not meet the competitive selection cut-offs but satisfy the minimum university requirements.

B. Special Education applicants should pass the entrance examination in their second programmes before selection

C. Physical education and sports coaching applicants should not be more than forty (40) and fifty (50) years respectively.

D. Successful Post-Diploma applicants may be placed at Levels 100, 200 or 300 of the Four-Year programme depending on the programme in question and the background of the applicant.

F. Submitting an application and its supporting documents are the first steps in the selection process. An application should not be completed and submitted in ways that will disadvantage or disqualify an applicant. In this respect applicants are entreated to study the admissions brochure carefully before completing an application.

G. All certificates and results other than those from the West African Examinations Council, the Universities and Polytechnics in Ghana and institutions accredited by the National Accreditation Board should be cleared with the National Accreditation Board and the evaluation reports submitted to the university.
