University of Alaska SoutheastMission Statement

The University of Alaska Southeast is an open enrollment public university that provides postsecondary education for a diverse student body. UAS promotes student achievement and faculty scholarship, lifelong learning opportunities, and quality academic programs.

Goal One: Student Success

• The University will provide the faculty, learning environment, support systems, and facilities to maximize learning opportunities for its students who bring diverse interests and needs to their educational experience. UAS seeks to increase both traditional and non-traditional students at all three campuses, and is particularly committed to the success of Alaska Native students.

Goal Two: Regional Faculty & Staff Development

• The University will recruit, develop and retain a culturally diverse faculty and staff who bring excellence to research, teaching, and public service through innovative and mission-focused academic programs and services.

Goal Three: Educational Quality

• The University will offer quality programs, from non-degree training to graduate degrees. Each campus will provide quality programs and services within their respective missions.
