Experience the wonders of nature with breathtaking views of Mendenhall Glacier and its wildlife. Soar to new heights in an enclosed gondola tramway from downtown Juneau to the top of Mount Roberts. From high above, you’ll be able to enjoy breathtaking views of the harbor, the sea and the mountains, so be sure to bring your camera.

Shore Tour Options Mendenhall Glacier & Juneau City Tour

Take a guided tour through the city of Juneau to learn about the history of Juneau’s Gold Rush era and you’ll also visit the Mendenhall Glacier. Mendenhall Glacier is 12 miles long with ice about 1,000 feet deep. With polished rocks, established sediment and plain succession, you can see the glacier’s continual grinding, flowing and retreating

motion through the valley. See the red and silver salmon return to Steep Creek which also invites black bears and eagles who travel close to the visitor’s center. At the tour’s conclusion, you’ll make a stop at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor’s Center to discover the mystery behind the magnificent geological phenomenon from an unobstructed vantage point.

Glacier Bay, AKThe marine wilderness of Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve is like no place else on earth. The park includes magnificent glaciers, snow-capped mountains and abundant wildlife. A National Park Service Ranger will board the American Spirit for the day and provide a comprehensive interpretive program. In addition, American Cruise Lines has made special arrangements to have a Huna Tlingit Cultural Interpreter join us onboard who will share with you the fascinating history of Glacier Bay’s native people.

Chilkoot Lake Wildlife Kayak Tour

Begin your tour with a seaside drive to Chilkoot Lake State Park, which contains a salmon-filled river flowing into the sea, a turquoise lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains and important Tlingit cultural sites. The lake is uncrowded and the scenery is spectacular as it is filled with bald eagles, bears and migratory birds. Large waterfalls spill off of the cliffs surrounding the lake and lush green forests line the shore.

Haines Fishing Charter Tour

Enjoy a half day of salmon fishing from the comfort of the “First Choice” fishing charter. The charter is a short distance from the cruise ship allowing you to maximize your fishing time. You will fish with a maximum of 6 guests and all equipment will be provided.

Experience Skagway during Alaska’s original historical tour of the city filled with informative facts and points of interest. Aboard the restored 1927, sightseeing bus, a costumed “conductor” takes you on a journey behind the scenes with tales of life in small town Alaska. Explore the waterfront and National Park Historic. You’ll enjoy panoramic views from the Scenic Overlook with sights of the Soapy Smith gunfight at the Gold Rush Cemetery. Motor through Skagway’s residential neighborhood, which is famous for its flower gardens.

Petersburg, AKPetersburg is a thriving fishing community with a strong Norwegian heritage. Located on the Frederick Sound, during the summer this is a prime location and feeding ground for humpback whales where there are plenty of opportunities to catch a glimpse of these majestic mammals. Meet local residents who are always excited to show visitors how to catch salmon and halibut or show you the best Petersburg has to offer.

You will be able to discover the rich heritage of this small fishing town during a walking tour. While roaming the streets of Petersburg, you’ll find artistic designs stamped into the concrete sidewalks and

Rosemaling (Norwegian toll-paintings) adorning the front of buildings. At the end of the walking tour, guests will have the chance to explore the Clausen Museum on their own. The museum’s collections of artifacts, photographs and archives span the history and pre-history of Petersburg and the surrounding area.

Tracy Arm, AK/South Sawyer GlacierCruise under Tracy Arm’s sheer, 1,500-foot-high vertical cliffs and experience the awe and wonder of nature. Hundreds of waterfalls cascade down the sides of the fjord, creating a majestic atmosphere. Observe and admire seals in their natural habitat among the small icebergs that surround Dawes Glacier. Feel humbled in the midst of this tranquil scenery, as this glacier is nearly a mile wide and stands approximately 20 stories high.

Passengers will visit either Tracy Arm or Dawes Glacier depending on ice flow.

Getting to Juneau, AK and the American SpiritThe American Spirit will be docked at the Seadrome Marina.

Flying Juneau International Airport is the best airport to fly into. The airport is serviced by many airlines and located approximately 15 minutes from the ship.

Arriving Early? If you arrive the day before your cruise, the Goldbelt Hotel is located near the Seadrome Marina. Please ask for the special American Cruise Lines rate.

Boarding ProcessBoarding the ship takes place between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The ship leaves promptly at 1:30 p.m. (earlier if all passengers are onboard). From the moment you arrive, the American Cruise Lines deckhands will handle everything for you. From helping you with your luggage to assisting you onboard—we will handle everything with care. There are no restrictions on luggage, but it is recommended to bring as few bags as necessary. Suitcases less than 10 inches high may be stowed under your bed.

Cruise ConclusionOn the last day of your cruise, the ship will dock at the Seadrome Marina, located at 76 Egan Dr, Juneau, AK 99801. If flying home, we recommend you fly from Juneau International Airport. Taxis are typically available at the ship and American Cruise Lines offers transportation to the airport.
