OVERVIEW
Case 35496, Sample Delivery Group (SDG) MCOOH2, consisted of six (6) aqueous samplessubmitted to Sentinel, Inc. (SENTIN) for aluminum (Al), calcium (Ca), iron (Fe), magnesium(Mg), potassium (K) and sodium (Na) analyses. The sample set included one (1) field blank andone (1) field duplicate pair. Samples were analyzed in accordance with Contract LaboratoryProgram (CLP) Statement of Work (SOW) ILM05.3 through Routine Analytical Services (RAS)program.
SUMMARY
Data were validated according to the Region m Modification to the National FunctionalGuideline for Inorganic Data Review level IM2. Area of concern with respect to data usabilityare listed below.
Data in this Case have been impacted by outliers present in field and laboratory blanks as well asICP serial dilution analyses. Details for these outliers are discussed under "Minor Problems",specific samples affected are outlined in "Table 1 A" and qualified analytical results for allsamples are summarized on Data Summary Form (DSF).
MINOR PROBLEMS
The field (FB) and/or continuing calibration blanks (CCB) had reported results greater than theMethod Detection Limits (MDL) for analytes listed below. Positive results reported in affectedsamples which are less than or equal to five times (<5X) blank concentrations may be biasedhigh and have been qualified "B" on the DSF.
AR100096
Page 2 of2
Blank AnalytesFB aluminum (Al)CCB Al, sodium (Na)
Preparation blank had negative values greater than the absolute value of the MDLs for iron (Fe)and magnesium (Mg). Quantitation limits for these analytes in field sample MCOOH1 may bebiased low and have been qualified "UL" on the DSFs.
Percent Difference (%D) for the ICP serial dilution analysis was outside the control limit (>10%)for Na. Reported positive results for this analyte are estimated and has been qualified "J" on theDSF unless superseded by "B".
NOTES
Positive results which are less than the Contract Required Quantitation Limit (CRQL) but greaterthan MDL have been qualified "J" on the DSFs unless superseded by "B".
Reported results for field duplicate pairs MCOOH3/MCOOH6 were within 20% RPD, ± CRQL forall analytes.
Data for Case 35496, SDG MCOOH2, were reviewed in accordance with Region ffiModifications to the National Functional Guidelines for Evaluating Inorganic Analyses, April1993.

GLOSSARY OF DATA QUALIFIER CODES
CODES RELATED TO IDENTIFICATION(confidence concerning presence or absence of analytes):
U = Not detected. The associated number indicates approximate sampleconcentration necessary to be detected.
(NO CODE) = Confirmed identification.
B = Not detected substantially above the level reported in laboratory or fieldblanks.
R = Unreliable result. Analyte may or may not be present in the sample.Supporting data necessary to confirm result.
CODES RELATED TO OUANTITATIQN(can be used for both positive results and sample quantitation limits):
J = Analyte Present. Reported value may not be accurate or precise.
K = Analyte present. Reported value may be biased high. Actual value isexpected to be lower.
L = Analyte present. Reported value may be biased low. Actual value is expectedto be higher.
[ ] = Analyte present. As values approach the IDL the quantitation may not beaccurate.
UJ = Not detected, quantitation limit may be inaccurate or imprecise.
UL = Not detected, quantitation limit is probably higher.
OTHER CODES
Q = No analytical result.
