Your Projects will be shared with the principals and staff of the school. If you’ve had to change your project from your original plan, this is where you will note that.

American Revolution Haiku (til end of class)

Using the information from the movie guide from yesterday, it is your job to write a Haiku about your topic. Your topic can be any event leading up to the American Revolution (Boston Tea Party, Tea Act, Navigation Acts, Stamp act, Lexington and Concord, Proclamation of 1763, Sugar Act, Boston Massacre, quartering act) remember 5 syllabi, 7 syllabi, 5 syllabi. You should also draw a picture expressing your topic. This is a creative assignment so make sure to use your imagination!!

To round out the history investigation. We will watch the video clip from “The Revolution: Declaring Independence.” Students will answer the questions as we watch the video. It goes over ideologies of the time, and steps the colonists take towards the next battle.

Today we are going to participate in a “time warp lesson” – We will be writing our own Declarations of Independence and drawing upon the original document for inspiration and guidance. You may want independence from work, your parents, school, your brothers or sisters, pop music, fashion clothes, bad summer movies, your friends, or a bad habit; the list is endless. Find your despotic dictator and write your declaration against him, her, or it.These declarations MUST include all of the parts of the original and use some of the same language. We will use the worksheet provided to draft out our ideas and present it to the teacher for approval

Group Project- Teach the Class Today you will be introduced to your newest group project: Summarizing the Battles of the American Revolution.

Please do not ask who is in your group until I am done explaining how this will work.

Students will be responsible for researching their battle, teaching their classmates about their battle,grading their partners, and grading any and all work your group creates for your classmates.

Presentation Reminders

When Presenting:

Speak Loudly and Clearly- this shouldn’t be the first time you’ve spoken your part aloud. I should be able to hear you in the back of the room.

Watch the amount of “ums,” “ands,” and “likes” you say.

Try walking a little like Mrs. Farley does if you’re nervous.

You may give tallies out to the class if they are being rude by shouting out during your presentation.

When Listening:

Eyes, and Ears are open and alert; your Mouth is shut with no noise coming from it.

You do not shout out. Raise your hand and wait to be called on if you have a question.

Save all questions until the end.

The groups can give you tallies for calling out and being rude to them.

Your Audience Etiquette is a part of your grade.
