1. I gave you a “Syllabus Sheet” last class. It has scissors at the top. Your parents were supposed to sign it and you were supposed to bring it back. If you need another, ask me, but it’s LATE.

2. Your BINDERS are due today. If you have it, you get a 100. If you don’t, it’s a zero.

3. Your GOOGLE SURVEY is due today. If you haven’t done it you have until 5 pm today or it’s LATE.

3. In the left hand column of your c-

notes, write today’s lesson objective

in the form of a question:

IDENTIFY CAUSES AND DESCRIBE THE EFFECTS OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF AGRICULTURE

In this class, you will write a question

in your notes every day. Our goal is to

be able to answer that question. Some

easy stems to use are:

“How would you…”

“How might you…”

“How could you…”

followed by the question. So today’s

question might say, “How would you

identify the causes and describe the

effects of the development of

agriculture?” That question is asking

you to describe the causes and effects

of the development of agriculture in

your own words.

Paleolithic: hunter-gathers

Foraging: hunting, gathering

Cultivate: grow

One significant change is the shift from hunting and gathering to farming.

“Paleolithic man was a hunter; Neolithic man became a farmer…” During the

Neolithic Revolution, humans learned new ways to get food.

Fun Fact

• Russian-American author Zecharia Sitchin claimed that the Anunnaki were actually a race of extraterrestrial beings who came to Earth around 500,000 years ago in order to mine gold

• The Anunnaki created modern humans to work as their slaves

• During the “Flood of Noah,” Annunaki bases were destroyed. These had to be rebuilt and needing more humans to help in this massive effort, Anunnaki taught humans agriculture

THIS IS A CONSPIRACY THEORY. THERE IS NO

HISTORICAL EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT THE IDEA

THAT ALIENS CAME TO EARTH AND TAUGHT

HUMANS TO FARM. IT’S A FUN FACT ABOUT

RIVER VALLEY CIVILIZATIONS, SO I’M TELLING

YOU ABOUT IT. DON’T TELL PEOPLE THAT I

SAID THAT ALIENS TAUGHT HUMANS TO FARM.

I DIDN’T SAY THAT.

Independent Practice: Groups

• Humans began to grow food during the Neolithic Revolution. Answer the following questions:

1. Your plant will feed you and your entire family if it grows properly. What are some challenges you may face during this process? What can go wrong?

2. If your plant dies, what is your alternative? 3. Which lifestyle is better: Paleolithic or Neolithic? Why?

• Then, complete the Sequence Organizer using your notes and/or textbook

• Due at the end of class: completed notes, class work sheet (including planting questions AND sequence chart)
