Ranchi: June 14, 2012: Darkness of all the 120 houses of Garudpidhi village under

Lali panchayat of Namkum block will now have a tough time as they are now

equipped with solar lamps from yesterday. Rajya sabha MP Mr Parimal Nathwani

in a unique initiative identified the village and instructed his office to arrange

This is the third village after Rando and Karam Toli where solar lights got

distributed by Mr. Nathwani.

During survey of the village earlier, it was found that at times the villagers used

to take their supper near the fire-place as they had no other source of light. Many

villagers could not afford kerosene for light. Villagers’ efforts to get electricity

have not materialized so far.

Mr. Nathwani, after knowing the plight of people decided to help. Not only that,

he also plans to spend part of his MPLAD fund for this area and has decided to

construct Akhara (a village court-yard) and Sarna-Sthal (place for worshipping

village deity). The solar lamps came as a great delight and lighted the faces of

villagers with the ray of hope.

Solar distribution at Garudpidhi was accomplished in presence of Mr. Sandeep

Verma, the local adviser to Mr. Nathwani. Ms Nusrat Jahan of MP’s office

coordinated with villagers and conducted the distribution program.
