Dear Parents Caregivers, Term 2 has now officially commenced, even though the current situation has not eased and that students are working remotely. I truly do hope that you had a relaxing and enjoyable Easter holiday period and that you and your loved ones are happy and well. Phase 1 – Students Return to School One Day Per Week Last Friday, our school released a communication through SkoolBag regarding how our school will implement that Phase 1 return to school at the beginning of Week 3. Students at Warrimoo Public School will be invited back one day a week with their whole class group on a specific day from Monday 11th May 2020. The exception to this will be classes 1T and 3W, where these classes have been divided into two groups with ‘Group A’ attending one day and ‘Group B’ attending the other. To ensure that the required student percentages at school, in-line with social distancing requirements within the classrooms, have been maintained we have split these classes. In order to comply with these percentages in each classroom across the other grades we will be utilising double classrooms to ensure that social distancing requirements are meet and the ratio of students within the room is maintained. The classes across our school will be invited back on the following days in the table below.

Currently, I am uncertain of the timeframe that we will be restricted to the Phase 1 return to school plan, however, as information becomes available to me I will ensure that I keep you fully informed. Warrimoo Public school is open and no child will be turned away, however, you are encouraged where possible to keep your child/children at home on the four days that they are not allocated to attend school physically. Drink Bottles As students return to school one day a week as of Week 3, please note that the school bubblers have been closed in keeping with socially distancing requirements. Students are asked to bring to school a reusable drink bottle that can be topped up from within the classrooms throughout the day. Be assured that if your child forgets to bring a drink bottle to school or they do not have one available to them we will provide them with an unopened bottle of water. Drop Off & Pick Up Responsibilities As students return to school one day a week from Week 3, we request that all children are dropped off from the front gate of the school and picked up in the same location in the afternoon. This is a requirement of the Department of Education regarding social distancing. Once we move out of Phase 3, parents will be encouraged and invited back into the school to conduct drop off and pick up. Thank you for your understanding and consideration regarding this request.

Staffing Positions Mrs Drummond As I am certain you are aware that Mrs Drummond and her family are expecting a new baby to their family in 2020. I am currently in the process of releasing an Expression of Interest for a teacher to relieve on the K/1D classroom from Semester 2. Once the very best replacement teacher has been appointed I will communicate further with you. Mrs McCarthy Mrs McCarthy has been employed at our school, throughout the year thus far, on the 4M class in a temporary capacity. I would like to express how impressed I have been with her commitment to the students in 4M and across the school. While I am still required to complete the staffing appointment for this position within our school once we move out of social distancing requirements, I have made the decision for this position to not become active until 2021. What this means for Mrs McCarthy and the 4M class is that she will remain the classroom teacher for the conclusion of 2020. Stage 3 Camp The Stage 3 camp to Canberra was scheduled early last year for Week 7 of Term 2 2020. Unfortunately, due to the current climate that we are living through we have been forced to cancel this year’s camp to Canberra. While social distancing expectations are slowly being eased the Department of Education is not allowing any camps or excursions to take place until we reach the Phase 4 stage of returning to school. While I am certain the students will be very disappointed, as are we at Warrimoo Public School, the health and safety of all children and staff is paramount. I regret to inform you via this communication channel, however, providing an individual letter to parents in not currently possible. Absences While students are currently encouraged to remain at home, wherever possible, class rolls are continuing to be maintained and completed. Please notify the school if your child is unwell and not engaging in remote learning so they can be recorded as sick. Please note that the school is required to record unjustified absences against any student if they have not engaged in the remote learning on any given day. I wish you a very happy and enjoyable fortnight ahead. My kindest regards, Mr Tony Jeff Principal

Welcome to the new realm of term 2

Our Kids Yoga is up and running via zoom! We have pjs and pets still popping into

our screens and are navigating (to the best of our ability) unfamiliar terrritories.

Interestingly, the tools of yoga to balance and recenter us, remain the same no matter what is happening outside in the world. Tools such as breathing practices to balance the hemispheres

of the brain, calm and energise and postures to release stress and strengthen and tone our bodies.

We are making room for new faces and if your child

is interested please email [email protected] to join. We offer by donation for those feeling stretched at this time

and accept Active Kids Vouchers.

Please note some classes are at differing timeslots.
