Unemployment is one of major problems not only underdeveloped countries but also for many developed countries. As a developing and over populated country thousands of people are remain jobless in Bangladesh. Every year a huge number of students are coming out from colleges and universities. Though it is one of the major responsibilities of the Government to provide job to those young generation but the Government is failed to meet the job demand among the large number of educated young generation.

Conceptual framework of Unemployment

Unemployment may be defined as a situation in which the person is capable of working both physically and mentally at the existing wage rate, but does not get a job to work. Unemployment occurs when a person who is actively searching for employment is unable to find work.

A.E. Waugh: “An unemployed person is one who is able to find work for which he is qualified, under condition that are reasonable as judged by local standards.”

Nature of unemployment

Unemployment means the state of being without any work both for the educated and uneducated for earning one's livelihood.

Unemployment denotes a condition of joblessness.

Any body who fails to work may be considered as being unoccupied

Unemployment is a complex and acute problem for Bangladesh and other third world countries. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has declared to minimize the unemployment rate by the year 2021. Government had already undertaken for employment generation to remove the curse of unemployment.
