Design as a wide spectrum unveils the mul-tiple dimensions and possibilities of prob-lem solving, creative thinking and amal-gamating the two with innovation! For many years now design as a domain has not only been widely accepted in the west-ern countries, but has also been considered and recognized as one of great importance in impacting even day-to-day life. In India, the recent years have witnessed a wide spread acceptance and respect for the domain as well as realizing its importance. Kerala as a state in the country is also devel-oping on these lines, although the speed could be accelerated. As part of this process, the state government has set up one of the �rst ‘state government owned’ design institutes of the country, Kerala State Institute of Design (KSID). Being one of the �rst institutes that o�ers Post Gradu-ate diploma in the domain of design in the state, the institute is also now gearing up to commence the under-graduate level courses more commonly called the B.Des programmes or the Bachelor’s Degree Programmes in design.

The picturesque campus of KSID is not only abundantly blessed with the beauty of nature but also with a vibrant and exciting pool of young creative minds; energetic, lively and passionate!

Students have an in campus hostel and facilities such as library, an IT lab, depart-ment speci�c labs and workshops, 24-hour wi� and an in-house canteen.

The campus come to life not only with academics but the co-curricular activities students take up as well, which go beyond the boundaries of the campus and some-times move out to enlighten the common man on design and how design and the creative spectrum can bring more mean-ing even in day-to-day life!

The process of admissions to every batch will be �agged o� with the initial noti�ca-tion published in major newspapers across the country, on the KSID o�cial website and noti�cations on general design web-sites. The admission process will start immediately after the noti�cations are published and applications will be availa-ble on o�cial KSID website.

Students with a Valid UCEED 2020 score may apply.

Shortlisted candidates based on the eligi-bility will be called for an Interview and �nal results will be published post Inter-views.

The initial selection would be based on the UCEED score and short-listed candidates will be called for an Inter-view . Final selection of candidates will be purely based on merit and rank list which will be published after the interviews.

The entire duration of the B.Des programme would be for four years comprising of eight semesters.Each student would have to undergo a mandatory generic foundation programme of 2 years and a 2 year domain speci�c training. The candi-date, on successful completion of the �rst 2 years of generic foundation, then has the choice to choose the design discipline based on his/her merit and skills. At present KSID is o�ering electives in the following domains -1. Product Design2. Communication Design3. Textile Design4. Apparel Design

10+2/higher secondary exams with a mandatory minimum marks of 50%

Candidates having taken any stream in their higher secondary (10+2) that is, Science, Arts Com-merce or Humanities can apply

Candidates must have obtained the above mentioned quali�cation from any recognized board of education such as ICSE, CBSE, IB, IGCSE or any other that is equivalent.

Applicants should have passed the higher-secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations with the desired crite-ria as mentioned above.

Candidates must have a valid UCEED 2020 score.

The upper age limit would be 20 (that is, only those born on or after August 1st 2000) for all Indian Nationals in the General Category and General EWS Category

For the Indian Nationals that fall in the Reserved Category (that would be OBC – Non-Creamy Layer, SC, ST) the upper age limit would be 23 (that is only those born on or after August 1st 1997)

��Once the admission procedure is announced (as detailed in section 2.0) interested candidates must download the application form from the KSID website (www.k-sid.ac.in). A registration fee of Rs.2000/- must be paid. Duly �lled appliation form should be submit-ted online on or before the last date mentioned. On successful registra-tion, the application form will be scrutinized and candidates who have met all rquired eligibilities will be informed about the next stage/s of the admission process..
