Week 8: Border part 2

Stitch Count Per Side: 64 tr, 11 ch-8 sps, and 22 ch-3 sps – not including ch-1 corner sps

Border Round 4 (MC) - Banksia BorderSl st into the next ch-1 corner sp.  Ch 4 (counts as tr + ch-1 sp), tr in the same sp. This is your first corner made.

*Tr in the first 7 sts.  (Ch 5, skip the 2 ch-3 sps and the ch-8 loop, and tr in the next 5 tr) 11 times. Tr in the last 2 sts.  (Tr, ch 1, tr) in the next ch-1 corner sp.*

Repeat from * to * 5 more times, omitting the last corner on the last repeat.  Join to the third ch of the beg ch-4 with a sl st.  

Stitch Count Per Side:  66 tr and 11 ch-5 sps – not including ch-1 corner sps

Border Round 5 (MC) - Banksia BorderSl st into the next ch-1 corner sp.  Ch 4 (counts as tr + ch-1 sp), tr in the same sp. This is your first corner made.

*Tr in the first 3 sts.  (Ch 3, skip the next 2 sts and sl st in the next st.  Ch 8 and sl st into the same st so that you form a ch-8 loop.  Ch 3 and skip the next 2 sts.  Tr in the next ch-5 sp.  Tr2tog in the same ch-5 sp.  Catch the ch-8 loop from Round 3 by making a tr into the ch-8 loop and the ch-5 sp from the previous round.  Tr2tog in the same ch-5 sp.  Tr in the same ch-5 sp) 11 times.

Ch 3, skip the next 2 st and sl st in the next st.  Ch 8 and sl st into the same st so that you form a ch-8 loop.  Ch 3 and skip the next 2 sts.  Tr in the last 3 sts.  (Tr, ch 1, tr) in the next ch-1 corner sp.*  Repeat from * to * 5 more times, omitting the last corner on the last repeat.  Join to the third ch of the beg ch-4 with a sl st.

*Skip the first (hidden) st.  Tr in the next 6 sts.  (Ch 3, skip the next 2 sts and sl st in the next st.  Ch 8 and sl st into the same st so that you form a ch-8 loop.  Ch 3 and skip the next 2 sts.  Tr in the next 5 sts) 11 times.  Each of these repeats should fall over 10 stitches and there should only be one stitch left before the corner. Tr in the last st. (Tr, ch 1, tr) in the next ch-1 corner sp.*  

Repeat from * to * 5 more times, omitting the last corner on the last repeat.  Join to the third ch of the beg ch-4 with a sl st.

*Tr in the first 4 sts.  (Ch 5, skip the two ch-3 sps and the ch-8 loop, and tr in the next 5 tr) 11 times. Ch 5, skip the two ch-3 sps and the ch-8 loop, and tr in the next 4 sts.  (Tr, ch 1, tr) in the next ch-1 corner sp.*  Repeat from * to * 5 more times, omitting the last corner on the last repeat.  Join to the third ch of the beg ch-4 with a sl st.

Stitch Count Per Side:  65 tr and 12 ch-5 sps – not including ch-1 corner sps

Border Round 7 (MC) - Banksia BorderWhen making dc rounds, it is easy to accidentally work tighter. Make sure that you keep your tension nice and steady so that this round doesn’t pull in.

Sl st into the next ch-1 corner sp. Ch 1 (doesn’t count as a st), (dc, ch 2, dc) in the same sp. This is your first corner made.

*Skip the first (hidden) st.  Dc in the next 4 sts.  (Make 2 dc in the next ch-5 sp. Catch the ch-8 loop from Round 5 by making a dc into the ch-8 loop and the ch-5 sp from the previous round.  Make 2 dc in the same ch-5 sp. Dc in the next 5 sts) 12 times.  (Dc, ch 2, dc) in the next ch-1 corner sp.*

Repeat from * to * 5 more times, omitting the last corner on the last repeat.  Join to the first dc with a sl st.

Stitch Count Per Side:  126 dc – not including ch-2 corner sps

Border Round 8 (MC)Sl st into the next ch-1 corner sp. (Ch 3, tr, ch 2, 2 tr) in the same sp. This is your first corner made.

*Skip the first (hidden) st.  Tr in each of the rem 125 sts across. (2 tr, ch 2, 2 tr) in the next ch-2 sp.*

Repeat from * to * 5 more times, omitting the last corner on the last repeat.  Join to the top of the beg ch-3 with a sl st.

Stitch Count Per Side:  129 tr – not including ch-2 corner sps
