FreezeCell

CoolBox™ systems are bench top cooling workstations that provide sample cooling or freezing without ice, electricity or batteries. CoolBox systems are versatile and accommodate a variety of sample formats and temperatures. The modular design enables the use of CoolRack® and CoolSink® thermo-conductive sample modules to hold microfuge tubes, cryogenic vials, PCR tubes or plates, assay plates and more. The internal cooling or freezing cores provide hours of 0.5° to 4°C cooling or sample freezing. CoolBox systems may also be used with dry ice to create a compact, portable, snap freezing workstation for bacteria, viruses or proteins.

ThawSTARAutomated Cell Thawing System

™ThawSTAR adaptive sensing technology carefully tracks vial temperature at the time of insertion and during the thawing process, and detects the initiation of the solid-liquid phase change to optimize the thermal prole and deliver a consistent nal sample temperature in the range of 0-5°C. ThawSTAR system can efciently and reproducibly thaw vials right from LN2 storage as well as those equilibrated to dry ice (-78°C) or ultra-low freezer (-80°C to -75°C) temperature.

To operate, simply insert one frozen standard 1.8 or 2.0 mL cryogenic vial and wait approximately 2-3 minutes. When thaw cycle is complete, vial is raised for easy removal and downstream processing.

How It Works

ThawSTAR™ automated cell thawing system addresses

the last gap in the cell cryopreservation workow: cell

thawing. Replacing common methods of cell thawing such

as swirling frozen vials in communal water baths and

warming vials between hands - methods that are not

standardized and potentially jeopardize the integrity and

safety of the sample - ThawSTAR system ensures

consistent and reproducible thawing. Utilizing patent-

pending STAR™ sensing technology, ThawSTAR employs

multiple detection mechanisms to determine vial

temperature, phase change initiation and thaw completion,

eliminating the guesswork and subjectivity of determining

the end point. Highly reproducible thermal proles mirror

those obtained from a water bath without the variability

and risk of contamination.
