DAVID MACDONALDDIRECTOR’S MESSAGE

I was thinking about all the things that MUFON, the organization, has to be thankful for. This list can go on and on. First and foremost, however, has got to be our members.

From general membership to board of directors and everyone in between, this

group is top-notch. That does not mean that we never disagree. We do, but for a very few exceptions we can disagree without being disagreeable. Believe me, that means a lot to any organization. Our donors, our fans, and our wonderful volunteers are all worthy of our thanks. Then there is the fresh, bright atmosphere sweeping through MUFON, the growing interest on a global scale, the im-pressive membership growth, the increased stature, acceptance, and respect of our orga-nization, and as long as we “stay the current course,” MUFON has a wonderfully bright future.

As I stated, this can go on and on, but then another thought popped into mind…right after Thanksgiving comes…CHRISTMAS!! Yep, that’s right, in just a few weeks it will be upon us. And if you’re like most of us, you dread trying to find just the right gift for special people. Well, we may have a solution.

Take a look at the MUFON store: we have items of every price range and taste. At least for Mufonians! Take for example our Port Authority jacket for both men and women. It’s attractive, travels well and is quite warm. Despite its light weight, if worn over a sweat-er it’s good for all but the harshest winter weather. The MUFON “go bag” is a big hit as well. It is a large, durable flight bag, embla-zoned with the MUFON logo, suitable for field investigations or general travel. We have ladies’ t-shirts with the MUFON logo made of Swarovski crystal. (These are HOT!) Addi-tionally, we have a new line of hats, visors and bags—both embroidered and crystal. A new line of shirts is also coming online, featuring a new stylized script.

See there! We just made your shopping di-lemma a little less stressful. And that in itself is one more thing to be grateful for.

Happy Thanksgiving! l

Black orb seen in sky by New York man and his son

A man in Conklin, New York, reported seeing an object that was black, the apparent size of a golf ball, and flew erratically across the sky due north, according to testimony in Case 117921.

The reporting witness was outside working on his car with his adult son at 7 p.m. on September 12, 2021, at the onset of the experience.

According to the witness’s written statement in CMS:

The object I viewed was more than 500 feet away, less than a mile away; it traveled in a very erratic flight path, emitted no noise, no exhaust, no vapor trail, no FAA identification lights. It was viewable for approx-imately 30 to 40 seconds. It was a solid black orb or sphere, headed due north towards I-81 and flew just to the left of Montrose Dr. over the mountain top. It was almost out of sight when it veered suddenly straight up into the cloud base and accelerated quickly out of sight. I’ve been around planes, racing cars, drones, R/C aircraft of all types and variations. I’ve observed satellites and the ISS as it’s passed over several times in my life. This falls into no category that I’ve ever seen before.

New York MUFON Field Investigator Marietta White closed this case as Unknown Aerial Vehicle.

In her report on the witness interview, White states:

Witness was excited for what he and his adult son saw. He viewed an object that was matte black, golf ball-sized, moving erratically across sky, due north, in a straight line. It moved back and forth, up and down, while maintaining a straight line toward Route I-81, traveling just left of Montrose Drive over the moun-tain ridge. It emitted no noise, no exhaust, no vapor trail, no FAA identification lights. They watched for approximately 30 to 40 seconds. It was almost out of view when it “shot” straight up and out of sight. He stated, “This falls into no category that I’ve ever seen before.” He is an experienced drone pilot and stated drones can’t move that way.

White’s summary and conclusions add the following:

Witness is an experienced drone pilot and has me-chanical knowledge. He spends a lot of time around race cars and planes as well. He and his son were out-side working on a car and watching dragon flies when they saw the object. He seemed very sincere and was quite detailed in his description of what they saw….

It was traveling slower than a jet but faster than a crop plane. He stated that it changed direction quickly. He

stated, “It changed direction faster than any machine.” “A person could not humanly stand the directional changes.” The object moved back and forth and up and down. It did two loop patterns, moving up and down while remaining below the cloud cover. He said, “Not even an acrobatic plane could do that.” As it got closer to the town of Windsor it leveled off and shot straight up. It appeared to him to be under intelligent control.

Witness location was between two weather stations. Both reported the wind was moving south. Object was moving north against the wind. This would seem to exclude the possibility of it being a balloon or candlelit object.

Conklin is a town in Broome County, New York. The pop-ulation was 5,441 at the 2010 census. The town is on the south border of the county, southeast of Binghamton.

Sight of large white orb in sky disturbs man and his dog

A man outdoors walking his dog in Mumbai, India, report-ed seeing a white orb in the sky that “freaked” him out and made the dog run away; subsequently, a red orb was seen—all according to testimony in Case 117740.

The time was 2:10 a.m. on September 3, 2021, when the incident began. It lasted for about five minutes.

The event description in CMS by the reporting witness reads as follows:

I was walking my dog Hugo at a really late hour. It was a little after 2 a.m. It had been raining on and off so was waiting for the rain to stop in order to walk the dog. I noticed this way too bright object in the sky. I was a little surprised as there were no other stars in the sky as it was a really cloudy night. I toyed with the idea of it being Neptune, although I was beginning to already think otherwise and getting excited with the prospect that it could be something else. By the time I got my night sky app and pointing, Hugo decided to scramble off by himself. I glanced quickly at the orb and saw that it very swiftly shifted its position. It freaked me out. I began to record a video. Trying too hard to keep the zoomed in video as steady as possible as my hands were trembling with excitement. What was also very fascinating was that I could see small white orbs dancing around the big white orb. These smaller specks of white, pinpointed flashes were oc-curring randomly all around. Just flashes, which could be one smaller orb moving around at a high speed or many that were present. But they were very clear as well. It was like a lot of things happening at the same time simultaneously. It was unreal. Meanwhile, Hugo had probably run back into the reception area of the apartment block I live in and startled the half-asleep security guy there. I was not bothered at that moment about anything else and tried to keep shooting the orb, hoping that it would shift positions again. But as I was beginning to describe the ray-like emissions from the orb, something else entered the frame. I could not believe what I was seeing. It was absolutely without a sound. Red with an inner core clearly visible of a bright yellow and orange glow that seemed to be very active. It was very clear. It was not like anything I have ever seen. And it was quite bright in a soft glowy way. No way it was anything else but something that can-not be explained in the conventional sense. This was no meteor, no aircraft and certainly no drone. Unfor-tunately, the video does not do much justice compared to what I could see with my eyes. I was making sure the video was recording till the red orb completely faded out while the security guy started to call out to me to inform me about Hugo, who had seemed to the security guy to be by himself at that late hour and probably lost. What I had seen was incredible. I rushed back home to point it out to my kids. They also saw what then seemed to be a stationary orb in the sky with some streaks of light emitting from it, and as they started to record it, the orb got obscured by a cloud and then it just did not appear again.

India MUFON Assistant State Director Ken Pfeifer closed this case as Unknown Aerial Vehicle.

White object photographed moving around the Moon

A witness in Surgoinsville, Tennessee, reported seeing and photographing an object that apparently moved around the Moon, interacting with its image in some way, before the object disappeared, according to testimony in Case 117899. A second witness was also present during the sighting.

The reporting witness was outside at 10:15 a.m. on Septem-ber 11, 2021. Her detailed event description follows:

I honestly have no idea what it was. Before I could get my phone to video of what I assume was the Moon, which has never been in this location that I can ever remember, it looked as if part of the “Moon” discon-nected from the bottom and made a circle around to the top. Almost like a separate outer line but was thick, like a fireball. The head of it was larger than the bottom, if that makes sense. In the video, it looks like two lines slowly fade into the Moon. Shortly after this it completely disappeared. Again, I have absolutely no idea what this was, but I have never seen anything like it.

Tennessee MUFON Field Investigator Richard Renne closed this case as Unknown Aerial Vehicle.

In his report, Renne states: “Witness observed white ‘moon-like’ object in the sky. The inferior portion of the object appeared to disconnect from the bottom of the struc-

ture and made a circle around to the top of the structure. Similar to a separate outer line. Two lines appeared and slowly faded into the object. The object then disappeared.”

Surgoinsville is a town in Hawkins County, Tennessee. The 2010 census showed a population of 1,801, up from 1,484 at the 2000 census.

Green blob and tic tac separately photographed

A United Kingdom woman in Telford reported seeing what appeared as a green blob in the sky. Moments later she observed a white tic tac object, according to testimony in Case 117638.

The witness was at the Telford Balloon Fiesta amidst a crowd of people and took several pictures of what she saw above the balloons at 8:50 p.m. on August 28, 2021.

According to the witness’s event description in CMS: “I took three photos in quick succession at the balloon festival in Telford, Shropshire. They were taken seconds apart. The second picture shows a small object that when you zoom in is a tic tac. The third picture is also seconds later and there is no sign of the object. Too large for an airplane and not anything to do with the balloons, as you can see how high above the show it was flying.”

9THE MUFON JOURNAL |

United Kingdom MUFON Field Investigator James Dallas closed this case as Unknown Aerial Vehicle.

Telford is a large town in the borough of Telford and Wre-kin in Shropshire, England. With an estimated population around 155,000, Telford is the largest town in Shropshire, and one of the fastest-growing towns in the United King-dom.

Witness gets feeling to go outside, sees boomerang flying above his house

Following an urge to go outside, an Idaho man in Idaho Falls reported seeing what at first appeared to be a boomer-ang with two lights flying over his house, according to tes-timony in Case 117959. He quickly resolved it as a triangle with three lights.

The sighting unfolded after the witness was outside his house at 10:35 p.m. on September 12, 2021.

The event description in CMS Form 1 sets forth what occurred:

I felt something tell me to go outside and look up. I saw a boomerang object with two lights banking over my home and then I could see the outline of a triangle and third light. I telepathically said, I can see

you. It then headed west towards the Idaho National Lab area, towards Mountain Home Air Force Base. I felt fearful to fall asleep; when I awoke, I felt sick and shaken. This is my fifth sighting since I was four years old. I want it to stop. I feel sick after each one. I went to the doctor after the fourth sighting and the blood work showed extremely high stress fight or flight hor-mone levels.

Idaho MUFON State Director Jim Millard closed this case as an Unknown Aerial Vehicle.

In his report, Millard stated: “The witness saw something very large over his house. He observed it moving way to the west. The object was triangular in shape with dim lights. No other aircraft was in the area at this time: Unknown - UAV.”

Idaho Falls is a city in and the county seat of Bonneville County, Idaho, United States. It is the state’s largest city outside the Boise metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, the population of Idaho Falls was 56,813 (2019 estimate: 62,888), with a metro population of 133,265. l

10 | NOVEMBER 2021

November 10, 2004: US Navy radar operator, Kevin Day first reports tracking slow-moving objects flying

in groups of five to ten between Catalina and San Clem-ente Islands. Four days later, US Navy Commander David Fravor and his fighter pilot crew make visual contact off the coast of Catalina Island with what becomes known as a Tic-Tac-shaped UFO. As Fravor’s crew lands aboard the USS Nimitz, a second crew is deployed to track the myste-rious and elusive objects. This time the airmen are packing advanced infrared cameras.

Fast-forward to the end of 2017. The United States govern-ment releases three declassified videos. One of the videos is titled “FLIR1,” which documents part of the events that took place back in 2004.

The other two videos are from another incident, one on the East Coast, in 2015.

The events the US Navy witnessed back in 2004 were just one of many, on an ever-growing list of sightings, that have taken place in the Catalina Island area over the years and continue to this day.

On July 8, 1947, as the nation is hearing about the now famous crashed disc in Roswell, New Mexico, another in-cident is taking place in the skies above the town of Avalon on Catalina Island.

A few days later in an article on the front page of the week-ly local newspaper, the “Catalina Islander,” details of the lo-cal sighting emerge. Three Army veterans were visiting the area. While out on their travels around 1 p.m. local time, they spot six “flying discs” traversing at high speeds across the sky above Avalon. They flew in a formation of two sets of three. According to the article, one of the Army witness-es flew over 33 bombing missions in the war; he estimated the discs were flying around 850 miles per hour. It turns out the three Army vets were not the only ones to witness these objects—hundreds of locals shared this sighting.

Santa Catalina Island

Two years later on April 28, 1949, a husband and wife are visiting their daughter and grandson on Catalina. The man went on to file a report with Project Blue Book - case 10073. It states, in part,

At about 8 o’clock on the night of April 28th, my wife and a schoolteacher saw six objects in the sky. Not in a group, but singly. A few minutes later my wife and daughter with our grandson, saw four more, all travelling in the same direction.

As for what came of the investigation, the official Project Blue Book file doesn’t have much of a follow-up.

Clarence “Kelly” Johnson was the brains behind the Black-bird family of aircraft and the F-104 Starfighter. He was the team leader at Lockheed Skunk Works, and the man who personally vetted and chose the location to begin the construction of the Groom Lake airbase, also known as Area 51. Besides being the two-time recipient of the Collier Trophy—an award reserved only for the greatest of

UFOs and Catalina Island: Over 70 Years of the Unexplained Jason Carignan, National Chief investigator for MUFON Canada

11THE MUFON JOURNAL |

achievements in aeronautics—Mr. Johnson also personally witnessed UFOs on two separate occasions.

On December 16, 1953, Mr. Johnson was in his West Coast home when he noticed a boomerang-shaped object hover-ing in the sky over the ocean. As he made his way outside to the front of his home, he called for his wife to fetch him his binoculars. The sun was setting out over the ocean, causing the craft to be silhouetted in the evening sky.

As he viewed the object through his binoculars, the craft began to move away from him, farther out over the Pacific. The UFO continued traversing to the west, climbing in alti-tude for a minute and a half, until it disappeared from view. Due to the setting sun, Mr. Johnson described the object as black but couldn’t make out much detail beyond the boo-merang shape.

Unbeknownst to Johnson, the very same object was being tracked by the flight crew of a Lockheed WV-2 Constella-tion flying over the Catalina Channel. All four crew mem-bers described the same thing that Johnson had witnessed: a boomerang-shaped object, which was first witnessed hovering for a few minutes before taking off to the west. The crewmen quickly lost sight of the object as it sped away.

Leland Hansen, a professional photographer working for the US Navy, was filming Catalina Island from a helicop-ter in April 1966 when he noticed an unusual object. He directed the helicopter pilot to follow it, while he recorded the event with his 8mm camera.

The film was analyzed by photographic experts, who con-cluded that the circular UFO was around 30 feet in diam-eter and travelling between 130 and 170 miles per hour. The analysis went on to state “there were no wings, no tail section and no visible means of propulsion.” All characteris-tics that are eerily reminiscent of what is now characterized as a “tic-tac” object.

I feel it’s important to note that over the years debunkers have tried to say the object Mr. Hansen recorded was some sort of plane off in the distance. However, the airplane explanation doesn’t take into account the hovering of the object that was witnessed.

The video in question can viewed via YouTube at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cxuztu-pllE

Still of Hansen’s video filmed from a helicopter

The examples provided in this article are meant to outline but a few of the UFO and USO reports over the years from the Catalina Island area.

There have been more credible, high-ranking and trained observers that have witnessed unexplained activity in the Catalina area over the past 70-plus years than over any other place that comes to mind. One thing is for certain: the number of sightings and their frequency do not seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

It really raises the question as to what it is about this loca-tion that attracts so much activity. l

Radio Signals from Distant Sources

In October 2021, astronomers published data on fast radio bursts appearing to come from the center of the

Milky Way. These signals, unlike any observed this close to Earth, have raised more questions as to the possible ori-gins of radio signals in space. The source is named ASKAP J173608.2-321635, based on its coordinates on the sky. Astronomer Ziteng Wang described the signals as highly polarized, randomly switching on and off, and high vari-ability of brightness. The signals were observed multiple times over the past year, and they do not follow the patterns associated with other known astronomical phenomena like fast radio bursts, pulsars or galactic center radio transients.

In February of this year, an article by Danny Price was fea-tured in the IEEE Spectrum, “SETI’s Million Star Search.” The article discussed the technological challenges associated with the modern search for radio signals from outside of Earth. Assuming extraterrestrial civilizations are operating under the same laws of physics allows us to calculate atten-uation rate of radio signals from distant sources. Attenua-tion rate reflects how fast the signal strength degrades as it travels a distance from the source.

Earlier “SciNote” columns have discussed some of the cur-rent radio telescopes and their capabilities for roaming the sky and detecting radio signals. Why the historical focus on radio signals? Radio signals are part of the electromag-netic spectrum, and in 1932, Karl Jansky figured out that stars and other objects in space emit in the radio part of the spectrum. Since radio waves are longer wavelength than light, detection requires larger scale devices. Once larger lis-tening dishes were in place, a larger number of signals could be monitored and analyzed.

After World War II, reports of anomalous radio signals be-gan to be published in the media. In November of 1957, the New York Times reported a strange new radio signal received by government and private sourc es. The signal had a fre-quency of 14.286 MHz and was apparently moving. It was notably different from known satellite signals of the time.

The Very Large Array (VLA), New Mexico.

In 1959, Jim Dobbs of Hobbs, New Mexico, reported see-ing a glowing object while driving and heard a correspond-ing signal on the car radio. When the object vanished, the radio signal did as well. This was reported in the A.P.R.O. Bulletin in March 1959. Also in 1959, a report out of Holloman AFB detailed an incident where a missile went out of control because of radio interference in the telem-etry band being used to control it. An investigation of the telemetry radio interference was marked TOP SECRET, according to military personnel.

In an article by C.W. Fitch in the A.P.R.O. Bulletin, July 1959, “ ‘Transmitting UFOS’: The Lake Baskatong Sight-ing,” a report of a UFO emitting a radio signal is detailed. During the sighting by several observers, a portable radio stopped working. As one of the observers attempted to adjust it, they came across a very strong single frequency signal between 2.5 to 25 megacycles. The observers said the sound was similar to Morse code, as it was a pattern of pulses.

Amateur Radio Bands reported a series of disturbances in 1967. These unusual groups of pulses would arise on several monitored bands. A report was written up in Flying Saucer Review by G. Elliott in the March/April issue in 1969. In 1973, the New York Times reported that Moscow detected a series of anomalous radio transmissions at four separate stations. A series of pulses lasting several minutes were detected several times a day for several days. It is possible that these detections were solar activity, but there were several UFO sightings reported during the same period. It would be impossible to investigate these types of accounts in detail so many years later. However, these early reports of anomalous radio signals and interference during encoun-ters are just the tip of the iceberg. Whether recorded locally, or received from interstellar space, radio transmissions may still hold important clues to the contact mystery. l

In the process of trying to find correlations between MADAR anomalies and potential sightings of interest

(PSOI), sometimes we find good sightings first. Normally we look for sightings that might correlate with our dates, but working backward on a PSOI, we check to see if MADAR might have picked it up. Rob Swiatek contacted me on June 30th and ran a couple of interesting Illinois sightings by us. The first one was really good, but there were no MADAR sites even close, so we added the sighting to our growing list of good cases for 2021. The second one was an oddity that Rob asked me about to see if I had ever run across one like it. I hadn’t. The sighting occurred on March 5, 2021, in Algonquin, Illinois. The witness lives by the Fox River. At about 1 p.m.CST, he turned right, out of his driveway, to drive to the Jewel-Osco food store on East Algonquin Road. As soon as he turned, he immediately noticed a bright object with sunlight reflecting off it above the road. He immedi-ately realized it must be a UFO because he had never seen anything like it before. The object was heading from left to right, and as he drove, he was trying to keep his eye on it and attempting to grab his phone to take a photo. There are tall trees along the right side of nearby River Road, and he was able to view the object because there were no leaves on the trees. He sped up to get to a spot 300 feet north of his driveway, where there is an open area and the road goes up

a hill to four or five houses on the right. He was planning to stop and take a photo, all this time he was viewing the object through his windshield. Once he reached the open area, the object was passing over the hill. He sped up to Haegers Bend Road, about a third of a mile north on River Road. He turned right and sped down Haegers Bend Road but lost sight of it. The UFO consisted of two cylindrical objects linked together; each cylinder looked to be about 40 to 50 feet long and 12 feet high. They were hooked together by a mechanical link and followed each other in a straight line. They were very bright because the sun was reflecting off them against a blue sky, very visible and clear to view. It was the first time he had witnessed what he suspected to be a UFO in bright daylight conditions. They came from a westerly direction and should have been noticed by others because they were relatively low, about the height a helicop-ter would fly, i.e., 800 to 1000 feet AGL. He had helicopter flight time but was not a licensed pilot. It was a great expe-rience that only lasted about 15 to 20 seconds. (MUFON CMS 114010) I filled out an FI-4 with the basic information. The first thing I wanted to do was see how close the sighting was to any of our Illinois nodes. I looked up the latitude and longitude and punched the numbers into our MADAR map for a test node to run a tracer. The light blue “502” tracer dot popped up sur-prisingly close to our two nodes, 98 at Northbrook and 148, also to the right at Northbrook. A Google search showed 98 was only about 25 miles east of Algonquin! I converted the sighting time to Universal Time Code and entered the date into our online MADAR Alert Search (MAS) for anomalies detected and was disappointed that there were none. Unlike our anomalies database of processed hits, the MAS displays all “hits,” including false alarms and many that were pulled for one reason or another. So check-ing this list makes sure a correlation doesn’t slip thru the cracks. Curiously, the MAS did show an alert three days later at Northbrook node 98 at 17:30 UTC, which converts to 12:30 p.m. CDT! Surprisingly close in time frame to the Algonquin sighting and only 25 miles away!

RICHARD RENDELL, MUFON MEMBER, AUSTRALIA

UFO•InternationalMedia

This year was an exciting year for UFO and UAP phe-nomena, namely due to the US Congress becoming

aware of the UFO/UAP activity involving the USS Nimitz during a military exercise in 2004. In Australia, we also saw the release of a great book—In Plain Sight by Ross Coul-thart. This book not only attracted a lot of media and public attention concerning UFOs and UAPs from around the world but also drew attention to Australian UFO sightings for the younger generation, who may have not known about major UFO sightings during the 1960s and 70s.

A few months ago, I began wondering what procedures and protocols exist for the reporting of UFOs and UAPs now in Australia. I was assuming (what was I thinking!!) that in this day and age of greater government transparency that defense departments like the RAAF (Royal Australian Air force) would have a well-established protocol process concerning these matters. I made some enquiries in Au-gust of this year and was quite surprised by the responses I received. The first response via email was questioning which group I represented. What is the relevance of that? Any-way, to cut a long story short, I finally received a written response from the RAAF dated 16 August 2021 stating that there are no protocols for reporting UFOs and UAPS. I have attached a copy of that letter.

If you look at the letter carefully, it is a simple old-fash-ioned letterhead that I remember back in the 1970s. Also notice the handwritten day “16” at the bottom of the signature. I can remember many years when I was young that to save costs many departments printed many template letters within the month and just added a handwritten date for expediency. I can assure you international readers that correspondence in Australia isn’t like that anymore, ex-cept for the air force, of course.  I was expecting a detailed colored letterhead with a modern logo; instead, I received a blue background letter with a handwritten date, the type of letter you send off when someone is bothering you.

I decided I would write to the minister of defense (“de-fense” in Australia is spelt “defence”) to get his opinion on the matter. Please refer to the first attachment dated

3 September 2021. I received the standard “thank you for correspondence” type of acknowledgment but no detailed response since. I followed it up with another email, no response. I then sent an email to the prime minister stating that I have had no response. I got no response from him either.

So, if a UFO is seen in Australia, you can’t report it to the department of defence because they have no protocols on how this needs to be done. It is simply not good enough to have this type of investigation and reporting process in this day and age, especially when the USA and Australia are such strong allies and share military communication and intelligence.

I will do my best to pursue the matter until I get a written response. You never know, they might hand write me one.

Yours sincerely,

Richard Rendell MUFON member, Australia

Here are some statistics on UFO events as gleaned from MUFON’s Case Management System (CMS) and the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) on 2 Oc-tober 2021. The bulk of CMS reports are UFO sightings, of course, but abduction experiences, odd ground traces, and observations of nonhuman entities also fall under the umbrella of “UFO events.” NUFORC’s database includes

non-flying object events as well.

The case numbers listed below for each month reflect incidents that occurred within that month—i.e., they’re event-dated. Unknown percentages are with respect to completed cases. l

Starlink Satellites

In March 2021, there were four launches of Starlink satellites, April had two, May four, and in September there was one. There were none in June, July, or August. A Starlink launch usually orbits 60 satellites. Due to the sheer number of satel-lites in each launch and their deployment method, Starlink satellites frequently are reported as UFOs. l

THE MUFON JOURNAL | 17

UFOViewMUFON MEMBER PERSPECTIVE

Abstract: The MUFON Journal article “Hypothesizing Interstellar Law” proposes that most UFOs appear to fol-low a code of conduct (Arman Birnbaum, MUFON Journal, June 2019). Also, ancient alien theorists are always pleased to find religious texts that imply life exists beyond Earth. I have discovered in certain religious texts (copyrighted translations of primary sources) that there is definitely a basis for such an interstellar code, which in turn may give insight into the mindset of at least some visiting ETs.

I was perusing the translation of the sacred texts of an obscure Eastern religion when I stumbled across this: “Know thou that every fixed star hath its own planets, and every planet its own creatures, whose number no man can compute.”

Need one ask, What are you implying?

I was searching because I enjoyed that portion of the article “Hypothesizing Interstellar Law” where it stated:

The behavior of alien spacecraft spotted in our seas and skies is anything but random.… Some Interstellar Law likely plays out far from our world, among distant and, for us, unreachable places.

I am a fan of Ancient Aliens and the implied references to extraterrestrials they find in the Bible and ancient Hindu texts, etc. But here was a real statement. I kept looking.

I found this: “Truthfulness is the foundation of all hu-man virtues. Without truthfulness, progress and suc-cess, in all the worlds of God, are impossible for any soul. When this holy attribute is established in man, all the divine qualities will also be acquired.” Traveling between star systems seems to imply that a civiliza-tion has successfully progressed, so, according to this passage, these “souls” must understand truthfulness.

But I am searching for an entire code of universal law, a guiding system of belief. Is it possible then to conceive of an interstellar code that would function without the concept of truthfulness? Not for humans. Sacred texts

and their teachings, such as the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule, in no small way inform our ideas on law and ethics, our Earthly codes of conduct. The Gold-en Rule is both ancient and universal on Earth. Could it extend to other planets? We have reason to believe that the universal constants found in mathematics do. But how could the alien techno-geeks that made anti-gravity their plaything have anything in common with the substance of sacred texts of some obscure Earthly religious faith?

Then I read this: “Religion must be in conformi-ty with science and reason. If belief and teaching are opposed to the analysis of reason and principles of science, they are not worthy of acceptance…,” and this, “Put all your beliefs into harmony with sci-ence; there can be no opposition, for truth is one.”

According to this, truth is the foundation of virtue and truth is one. So, whatever the more scientific-mind-ed members of our own UFO community can add to this conversation cannot be at odds with what I was finding, and so it may be with the grays, etc., also.

These texts, by claiming truth is one, combine science with religion using “God” (whatever may be meant by that word) as a source. But do the texts actually men-tion applications beyond Earth? Turns out … yes!

I found references to “God” as the Lord of all the Worlds (plural), too numerous to list them all. Here are a few:

“Thou art our Lord and the Lord of all worlds, and the God of all that are in heaven and all that are on earth.” “All praise be to God, the Lord of all worlds.” “In truth, there is no God but Him, the Omnipotent Ruler of the worlds…the omnipotent Protector of all worlds.” “So potent and universal is this revelation, that it hath encompassed all things, visible and invisible.”

It occurred to me that other dimensions and vehi-cles with cloaking devices switched to “on” are prob-ably not visible. Also I found this: “All creatures that exist are dependent upon the Divine Bounty…. As the light of the sun shines on the whole world, so the

Whose Number No Man Can ComputeBy Grant House

18 | NOVEMBER 2021

Mercy of the infinite God is shed on all creatures.”

So the application is all worlds and all creatures. Amaz-ing. Thanks to Hubble and similar telescopes, we can see that there are numerous other worlds, planets in the Goldilocks zone, and galaxies that fill regions that formerly appeared to be empty space. So when these sacred texts mention “all worlds,” we, in the 21st cen-tury, now know scientifically that these worlds exist. As recently as the late 20th century, we did not.

So what about a code of laws drifting through the illimitable space? I dug deeper.

“Inasmuch as we find all phenomena subject to an exact order and under control of universal law, the question is whether this is due to nature or to divine and omnipotent rule.”

“The law of God is one; the evolution of existence is one; the divine order is one. All beings great and small are subject to one law and one order.” Yes, it even says the word “evolution.” I find that intriguing, too, don’t you?

It went on: “Reflect upon the inner realities of the uni-verse, the secret wisdoms involved, the enigmas, the in-terrelationships, the rules that govern all. For every part of the universe is connected with every other part by ties that are very powerful and admit of no imbalance, nor any slackening whatever.” “On the contrary, that Es-sence of sanctity is the sum of all divine and lordly per-fections, and all creatures receive illumination from His emanational appearance and partake of the lights of His celestial perfection and beauty, in the same way that all earthly creatures acquire the grace of light from the rays of the sun, without any descent or abasement of the lat-ter into the recipient realities of these earthly beings.”

I stared in amazement. This obscure translation was em-phatically answering the question posed by the MUFON article with unequivocal statement after statement. The use of the word “emanational” is also interesting. A hologram emanates from a source. There was more here going way beyond the scope of this article.

The texts go on to say, “My meaning, instead, is that this endless universe is like the human body, and that all its parts are connected one with another and are linked to-gether in the utmost perfection. That is, in the same way that the parts, members, and organs of the human body are interconnected, and that they mutually assist, reinforce,

and influence each other, so too are the parts and members of this endless universe connected with, and spiritually and materially influenced by, one another…. [Stop right there—aren’t there ufologists in Arizona that meditate to connect with ET and ask them to appear? No wonder it works.] And if such relationships, such spiritual influences and effects, are found among the various members of the body of man, which is only one particular being among many, then there must assuredly exist both spiritual and material relationships among the countless universal be-ings. And although our present methods and sciences can-not detect these relationships among the universal beings, their existence is nonetheless clear and indisputable.…” I am not sure what is meant by “countless universal be-ings,” but the text implies our current level of science, civilization … truthfulness … doesn’t yet comprehend it.

So, these obscure passages say there are creatures and planets everywhere and that they are all connected and subject to the same rules. Who would have thought? Sounds like some kind of Interstellar Law to me. l

19THE MUFON JOURNAL |

After a near seventy-year slum-ber, the film noir UFO may be

poised for its big return. The 1940s and 50s were film noir’s golden era. Dark, atmospheric drama famous for private investigators and reporters who engaged a parade of morally ambiguous characters in every scene. Anyone who savors vintage, B-movie science fiction will recognize sim-ilar atmospheric staging and stock characters (the adventurous scientist sometimes substituting for the stal-wart gumshoe.) The time is ripe for a revival of film noir science fiction thanks to this summer’s cautious-ly written, toe-dipped-in-the-pool official recognition of UFOs in the Preliminary Assessment: Unidentified Aerial Phenomena.

The Preliminary Assessment effec-tively grants everyone permission to take an interest in UFOs. Interest leads to films. Old-time film noir aliens set a mood. They retained a bit of mystery even when they were out to destroy the world. Mood and mys-tery. Just the right mix for newcomers not yet familiar with real or science fictional UFOs.

Consider It Came from Outer Space. This cinematic tale from 1953 unfolds in a small desert town. Astronomer John Putnam spots a flaming object speeding towards Earth. It’s a space-ship. He discovers a truly alien-looking crew. Their appearance thoroughly shocks humans. If that’s not bad

enough, they also capture his friends, shapeshift to look like them, roam freely in town. A disturbing situation, yes, but then there’s the film’s hu-man-alien dialog.

It turns out the menacing invaders are stressed out themselves. They tell Put-nam that “our mission was to another world. Only an error dragged us to-ward Earth.” They repeatedly tell him they need time to escape, lamenting, “All the dreams we had of knowing other worlds.” Putnam convinces them to make a peace gesture and release the townsfolk. He thwarts any further effort to approach their ship. The aliens take off and escape this world.

Ray Bradbury wrote the script. His 1950s aliens were eerie, well-armed visitors—but not invaders. And not benign ET. Though disdainful and ready to use immensely powerful weapons, they only wanted to get out of here. A film noir future seems just right for UFO movies to come. It’s a dark, mysterious genre with plenty of room to explore otherworldly mo-tives. Real UFOs/UAP will continue providing plenty of mystery, come disclosure or not. If life as we know it imitates art, then maybe extraterrestri-al life as we don’t yet know it does too. Like back in 1953, when It Came from Outer Space… l

Congress. In simple terms, UFO/UAP activity involving the USS Nimitz during a military exercise in 2004 has resulted in the production of a preliminary report namely “Preliminary Assessment: Unidentified Aerial Phenomena” dated 25 June 2021 by the Office Of The Director Of National Intelligence.

This preliminary report was provided by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) in response to the provision in Senate Report 116-233, accompanying the Intelligence Authorization Act (IAA) for Fiscal Year 2021, that the DNI, in consultation with the Secretary of Defense (SECDEF), is to submit an intelligence assessment of the threat posed by unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) and the progress the Department of Defense Unidentified Aerial

Phenomena Task Force (UAPTF) has made in understanding this threat. Further reading can be obtained by referring https://theconversation.com/pentagon-report-says-ufos-cant-be-explained-and-this-admission-is-a-big-deal-161806

In simple terms there is a greater interest in the phenomena at a political and defence level that has not occurred since the early post second world war era. As you can appreciate, Australia being an ally of the USA, it would only seem fair and reasonable that the RAAF and other defence departments had a policy concerning the investigation of UFO/UAP to reflect contemporary interest.

It would be fair to expect that the RAAF and other Australian defence departments would develop a policy of how it would investigate reports of such phenomena. This policy should be detailed enough to state:

1. That an incident(s) will be given a reference and/or serial number.

2. The reporter of the incident(s) will be advised of this number.

3. The reporter of the incident(s) is given written progress and an outcome of the matter.

4. The reporter, of the incident(s), if an employee of the defence department, or the general public, will not be treated in an adverse matter that results in any detriment.

5. The outcome of the investigation if deemed to be classified, secret or in the national security interest of Australia, be reported with full disclosure to the minister of defence and leader of the opposition.

A written response to this correspondence will be gratefully appreciated.

Yours sincerely.

Next, I ran a MADAR spreadsheet data check for the day of the sighting, March 5, looking at data for the 1 p.m. time frame in hopes of finding some perturbations “under trigger,” since apparently there were none high enough over 98’s threshold to put the node into alert mode. It is always better to have precise sighting times, but in the Algonquin case it was listed as having occurred at 1 p.m., so I picked data five minutes prior and five minutes subsequent to 1 p.m. And since the MADAR never went into ramped-up alert status of one line per second, all we have is one line per minute. There was an interesting increase in the field reading of the magnetometer of 9.75 during the 6:03 UTC or 1:03

p.m. minute line.  Two minutes prior to this, the compass heading was 115.38 degrees but changed to 120.17 at the time of the higher field reading. Three degrees is considered significant, but this was almost five degrees. This is all very interesting stuff, but not conclusive enough for our satisfaction. It is extremely interesting to find good daylight sightings and anomalies at similar times and within reasonable distances of our MADARs. It strongly suggests UFO activity in an area where we are “armed and ready” for much more in the days ahead. l

David Peters is a trained FI in re-gion six. He has a BS in chemistry and a master’s degree in education. He served in educational leadership positions. Teaching specialties include astronomy, chemistry, and physics. He lives in Dickinson.

John Pick “I am a historian who has been investigating the UFO phenom-enon with MUFON since 2016. I have conducted a well-organized historical research investigation that explores the UFO phenomenon from the lens of an aerospace historian. I have accom-plished this by using the tools and knowledge that I have learned from higher education at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and the skills I have learned from a variety of other fields that I used to work in. Pursuing this field has led me to meet incredible people, from around the

world, who have been investigating this phenomenon for nearly 70 years. Under the leadership of MUFON Texas State Director Ken Jordan, I have learned how to handle a variety of cas-es that MUFON has received. Without Mr. Jordan, I would not be where I am today as a MUFON Field Investigator. As for myself, I have helped MUFON identify cases that were determined to have either natural explanations or be truly Unknowns.”

Clint Garrison has been a member of MUFON and a Field Investigator since 2009, with over 20 years of law enforcement and cybersecurity inves-tigative experience. He holds a Master Peace Officer License and Peace Offi-cer Instructor License, a BS in adminis-tration of criminal justice from Mountain State University, an MBA in information assurance, and an MS in information technology from the University of Dal-las. He is currently working on a PhD in technology.
