Ueher einen neuen veranderlichen Stern (1 85 5.0 : I 6h I 3m36s - 7 O 2 I Io).

Der Stern, den ich V. J. S. 16, S. 2 7 2 als auffallig in zwei Zonen der siidlichen Durchmusterung fehlend ange- geben habe, ist, wie gestern Abend constatirt, thatsachlich veranderlich. Es ist B. Z. 1 7 0 1 6 ~ 12~25258, beobachtet 1823 Juni 9 als 9". In meinen Zonen 191 und 540 (1877 Mai 31 und 1880 Mai 14) fehlt er, ebenso 1879 Juni 14 in Zone 381, wo er aber das Micrometer nur 2' vom Rande des Gesichtsfeldes passirt haben musste. Nach vielen vergeblichen Versuchen, Bessel's Beobachtung anderweitig zu erklaren, wurde der Stern I 88 I Juli I 8 aufgesucht und mit Ueberraschung als 9" gefunden. 1882 April 19 1211~ Uhr war er hochstens II", vie1 zu schwach fur Bessel's Fernrohr. Position 1855: 1 6 ~ 1 3 ~ 3 6 ~ - 7'21.'o.

Within the past few days I have made a series of filar-micrometer coinparisons of these stars near the meridian with stars observed at Washington, Sydney and Williamstown, and have also observed them in the meridian with the transit-instrument. The following are the resulting mean places for 1881.0:

I may here remark that in the course of the reductions I discovered the RA. of star No. 2269 of the Washington GenXatalogue for 1860 to be largely in error.
