UBMS X PLTW

UBMS at TSJC is aligning with Project Lead the Way to offer all three high school (9-12) PLTW pathways to our scholars.

We are currently certifying instructors to teach Computer Science Essentials, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Principals of Biomedical Science, Medical Interventions, Human Body Systems,

Introduction to Engineering Design, Engineering Design and Development, and Principles of Engineering. These classes will be offered to scholars through UMBS at TSJC.

PLTW classes can count for high school credit. Now is the time to select a pathway in targeted subject matter to start preparing for the future. https://www.pltw.org/

UBMS Instructor Training PLTW training will be offered to local high school teachers in exchange for their commitment to teaching for UBMS at TSJC. Instructors will be PLTW-ready if their schools also decide to participate.

Our PLTW course offerings will increase each year. By UBMS Summer Session 2021, we will have nine PLTW classes available for scholars to begin their career pathways.

SCHOLARS INTERESTED IN MILITARY CAREERS

Several of our scholars have expressed interest in military careers. We have made connections with collegiate ROTC and Officer Recruiters. COVID restrictions permitting, we have budgeted for trips to visit university ROTC programs. Officers’ base salary is about three times that of enlisted i.e. E1 vs. O1, E2 vs. O2, etc. Contact Mr. Dominguez for more information on officer careers and pay structures.
