Several different prepositional phrasescan be used to talk about the location ofpeople, things, events, etc.
Use de when the preposition is followed by aspecific location.
Remember: de + el = del
Also remember that the verb ESTAR is used totalk about location.
Cerca de = near
La librería está cerca de la panadería.The book store is near the bread bakery.
Detrás de = behind
La motocicleta está detrás del autobús.The motorcycle is behind the bus.
Delante de = in front of
El tren está delante de la estación de tren.The train is in front of the train station.
Al lado de = beside
El policía está al lado del banco.The policeman is beside the bank.
A la izquierda de = to the left of
La carnicería está a la izquierda de la panadería.The butcher’s shop is to the left of the breadstore.
Entre = between
La joyería está entre la papelería y la pastelería.The jewelry store is between the stationery store andthe pastry shop.
A la derecha de = to the right of

Lejos = far
El aeropuerto está lejos.The airport is far.
